Incident Narrative

An employee on an 8-foot step ladder was reaching through a rough-framed wall with a reciprocating saw to trim foam that was installed over a staircase. Due to vibrations caused by the saw, the ladder moved away from the wall. The employee fell through the wall and landed on the staircase approximately 8 to 10 feet below. During the fall, the employee broke the handrail on the staircase. The employee sustained a fractured left ankle.
