Incident Narrative

An employee was working to depressurize lines of anhydrous ammonia for service work. The employee began to disconnect nuts. Pressurized ammonia began to leak from the pipe. To protect the plant and other employees, the employee grabbed the nut and manually tightened it to stop the leaking. This action caused burns to the employee's right hand.
