Incident Narrative

An employee was descending a concrete stairway with wire rope guardrails. He began to fall and grabbed the guardrail, which gave way. He fell to the concrete floor about 15 feet below, suffering a left-side impact that caused an eye socket fracture and other fractures. He was hospitalized, requiring treatment including a rod in his back.
