Incident Narrative

An employee had just finished dumping a rear load container into the back of a rear load garbage truck. While retracting the winch cable and securing it to the truck, the employee's hand was caught between the cable and the grab handle. The employee sustained a crushed right hand and was hospitalized. The middle finger required surgical amputation.
