Incident Narrative

A crew was digging with a rubber-tired backhoe to raise a valve can. The excavation was approximately 3.5 feet deep. Dirt from one side of the excavation collapsed into the hole and pinned the injured employee's leg against the existing utility in the excavation. The employee was hospitalized for a broken leg.
