Incident Narrative

On September 29, 2020, at approximately 1:45 a.m., an employee was visually inspecting a chain on top of the east scald cabinet of the kill floor when he slipped. To avoid a fall, he put his right hand down in the sprocket and chain. He was able to pull his hand free, but sustained two fractures to his middle finger, a fracture to his index finger and a laceration on the back of his hand that required surgery and hospitalization.
