Incident Narrative
On March 28, 2019, a temporary employee was working inside the USS Iwo Jima's 50-foot tank from a mid-level platform, marking up areas needing repairs, when he fell 17 feet to the bottom of the tank. The platform was unguarded and personal protective equipment was not worn at the time of the incident. The employee was hospitalized with a head contusion and a broken arm.
