Incident Narrative
An employee was using a 10-ton overhead crane and had picked up a bundle of steel angles weighing 7,250 lbs. The employee and a coworker then raised the bundle around 4 feet high and started to cut the metal strapping off the bundle. The employees were on their third band when the crane was moved southward, pushing them over a stack of angles and pinning them against some pipe. The material struck the employee's chest, cracking ribs and puncturing a lung. The employee was hospitalized.
