Incident Narrative
An employee was unloading a bundle of steel angle iron from a parked trailer in the shop delivery area using an overhead bridge crane. He was using the crane's hand pendant controller to control the crane's operation to lift the bundle of steel off the flatbed trailer and to lower it next to the trailer. At some point during the lowering operation, the wrong button was pushed on the pendant controller and the load swung and struck him in the chest while he was standing between the trailer and the swinging load. He suffered a punctured lung and broken rib(s).
