Incident Narrative

Workers were using a mobile crane to lift several 60-foot sections of 4-inch coiled rubber hose when one end of one of the coils caught the single coil that was being lifted. Once the coil rigged to the load line was approximately 10 feet above the ground, the end of the coil that had attached itself to the coil being lifted came free, rolled back, and struck the head of an employee on the ground. He suffered a 2-inch scalp laceration and numbness in his right arm.
