Incident Narrative

An employee was performing maintenance on a log-bucking saw and locked it out to replace a hydraulic valve. He then had to re-energize the valve to bleed out air from the hydraulic cylinder. When moving the cylinder in and out, his finger was pinched between the saw guard and saw structure. His left-hand middle finger was amputated at the first joint.
