Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The engine block heater may overheat when the vehicle is parked with the block heater plugged in.
Consequence: An overheated engine block heater increases the risk of a fire.

The powertrain control module (PCM) may experience a software error and disable functional safety features. Deactivated safety features can fail to prevent unintended acceleration or unintended vehicle movement.
Consequence: Unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.

Rear exterior joints may have been manufactured incorrectly, resulting in insufficient joint strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
Consequence: A school bus with insufficient joint strength may not adequately protect passengers in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
