About This Data

All product recall data comes from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC maintains a public database of all consumer product recalls issued in the United States. Our database contains 9,758 recalls spanning from 1973 to 2026.

The CPSC has jurisdiction over more than 15,000 types of consumer products — from toys, cribs, and power tools to household chemicals, sporting goods, and fireworks. Motor vehicles, tires, boats, drugs, cosmetics, food, and medical devices are regulated by other federal agencies and are not included in these statistics.

Our product recall database is updated periodically from the CPSC bulk data feed. New recalls typically appear in our system within a few days of being announced by the CPSC.
