Description

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Hazard

The chairs can collapse during normal use, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents / Injuries

West Elm has received 14 reports of collapsed, broken or cracked chairs. Two consumers have reported minor injuries after falling from a collapsed chair, medical attention was not required.

Remedy

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chairs and contact West Elm for instructions on returning the product for a full refund.

Units Affected

About 10,000 in the United States and 100 in Canada

Sold At

West Elm stores nationwide, the West Elm catalog and website from September 2011 to January 2012 for between $20 and $40.
