When pushing the driver side seat belt into the buckle, it instantly unlatched buckles. Yea it can be inspected. If in a car accident the driver could be seriously injured or fatally injured. I contacted Germain Westerville, Ohio who informed me it’s not under warranty and it would be $500 - $600 dollars. Contacted corporate who said it’s out of warranty but will have a supervisor call my on December 16,2025 It has not been inspected by police or insurance, it’s the only car I have to drive not sure how police are going to respond to that. No warning what’s so ever. I did try spraying WD40 just in case something was stuck.
The contact owns a 2014 Volkswagen EOS. The contact stated that while operating, a burning odor was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. Later, while operating the vehicle, the front driver's side seat became extremely hot, causing the driver's back and legs to become burned. The contact indicated that the burn injuries would later require medical treatment. The contact indicated that the sweater worn was also charred, and a small burn hole was present in the sweater. The contact discovered a burn hole and exposed heater filament on the back section of the front driver's seat and a burnt section on the seat cushion of the driver's seat. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined that the seat temperature had reached 163 degrees while the seat heater was activated. The contact was advised that the seat needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and authorized to have the back section of the seat replaced. The back section of the seat was replaced the bottom section of the seat was not replaced. The dealer also advised that the front passenger side seat had experienced the same overheating failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

I have the RNS510 radio which the NHTSA has received concerns about and there are several Tec Bulletins in regards to the radio not functioning properly. When this radio goes out due to the need of over priced software update, we loose our Bluetooth and backup cameras! Backup camera we installed so the drive could make sure they were not running over any small children on the ground and when that element fails and it falls on deaf ears here to make them fix that and their know faulty cameras, is the NHTSA going to take responsibility for the dead child that wasn’t yours so you would be looking as closely for one but if the know faulty system actually worked that child had a better chance of being alive because you can see your surroundings. There is a Service bulletin supporting the pictures below. Mine just stopped loading tried to upload the software that I bought from the dealership and bricked the whole system!! It will now drain my battery if the fuse is in. Since this has been neglected to be addressed for many years, I am just wondering who within the NHTSA is being paid off by VW and maybe we need to start writing our representatives hoping for a change because clearly VW knows it’s a problem and it’s been reported.
We have the Xenon headlights, which requires us to have headlight washers on our cars due to safety issue for the other drivers on the road so they don’t get blinded, who’s is great if 1) they worked most of the time 2) people did not start pulling the fuse or discontinuing the hose so it hit the ground. See Volkswagen has a know issue, that when they pop out to spray the headlights, they are known to break the cover! This in turn leaves the sprayer exposed to the elements to get clogged and not work, owners to get mad because they just break again after replaced (reason why they get disconnected) and the cost is not cheap to replace, the actual part is not bad the problem is, it’s primed grey and you have to get it painted which cost over $100. If you do a quick search over this you will see tons of complaints and the dealership is well aware of the issues, one lady had hers replaced under warranty and they said the sprayer was not in the right place. I could agree with that seeing as my windshield also gets sprayed! There were no warnings, we did not think ours even worked we had the car almost a year the first time they ever worked!! Still not sure what made them work exactly.

1) The flip up backup camera, yes it is available for inspection. I do have intentions to try and fix it like all the others unless asked to wait. 2) we bought a car with a backup camera for the safety of our 19 year old and others around her after she has crashed her car going fwd, we would hate for her to miss something backwards since she is only 4’10’ 3) yes it has been confirmed by an independent service center, certified by Volkswagen. They confirmed that the wires have broken and a new camera is needed. This is a very common issue. 4) no the component has not been inspected. From reading other ppls comments they do not assist. They have a radio firm up date and they want you to pay for that to fix the glitches. 5) honestly we just purchased the car and when we test drive it the backup sensor showed three dashes, it was turned on to that setting so we have no clue until we tried to change it and had it checked out. But from what I have read this has been going on for years. Not sure when they first started. You can clearly see the red broke off in the black part and while taking the pictures it so fragile another wire broke. It’s not like you can just replace a cable going into the camera like the newer ones.
The clockspring on the car went out. This mean all steering wheel controls don’t work, but more importantly, the air bags do not work either. We were told by the dealer the clocksprings are on back order and have been since November 2021. There are 8500 already on back order. We were told it could be 6 months to a year before the part is available. Dealership says VW won’t allow them to do loaners, VW says it’s up to the dealership. I’m the meantime, my 24 year old is driving around with no air bags.

Mid December 2021 the airbag light displayed and all functions on steering wheel quit working to include horn, cruise control, and all other buttons that interface with phone, radio and computer. After daughter returned from college 1st week of February 2022 was the first date available and is when the vehicle was seen by Volkswagen of Little Rock. Service Manager [XXX] reported the Clockspring was faulty and this is a manufacturer defect that is covered fully by Volkswagen, however, the Clockspring has been on back order since February and after calling every 2 weeks and calling again yesterday, 17 June 2022, with still no end on sight, I am filing this formal complaint. My college age daughter drives this vehicle with no horn and no driver airbag. As a retired US Army Veteran, I am all too familiar with risk assessment and mitigation and believe my daughter should not have to continue driving an unsafe vehicle. Additionally, we did not pay hard earned money to have a faulty and unreliable car and unsatisfactory driving experience. We either want a vehicle replacement or for Volkswagen to make good on their promise to fix the problem. Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The Clockspring is a recalled item… Took the car in for repair in early February. They (Little Rock Volkswagen) said them and continue to say the part is on back order (and there is over 4000 on back order) and cannot tell me when the part will be in. I called VW corporate and filed a complaint, they said the back order problem is between the dealer and the part manufacturer… On a recalled item? This is unacceptable. The airbag light is on but they tell me my daughter is safe. That there is not an airbag problem… But if there was I guess she just wouldn’t know… VolksWagon needs to own this problem and resolve at the corporate level and get the part replaced or replace my vehicle. Little Rock VW today had the audacity to suggest that I find the part on EBay and find a backyard mechanic to install it as they cannot??? Really? A back yard mechanic??? A part on EBay?? Corporate was no better… Took my complaint and said I’d just have to wait on the part???

The clockspring in my 2014 VW Eos failed on January 17, 2022. It was brought into the Alexandria, VA VW dealer who confirmed the problem and that the clockspring was under extended warranty due to known problems on January 19, 2022. However, the part was unavailable and no ETA was available, so I brought the car back home. As of April 19, 2022, Volkswagen continues to have no ETA for this part despite ongoing communication on my part. The vehicle has no working driver's side airbag or horn, which is a safety risk. Vokswagen continues to state that they are awaiting an ETA from their manufacturer. This must be impacting a significant amount of people, as this part is used for a number of Jetta and Eos model years.

TAKATA RECALL I MOVED TO THE SOUTH BEND INDIANA AREA LAST IN THE FALL OF 2017. THE LOCAL DEALER (ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY) IS GURNEY-LEEP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HAVE MY AUTOMOBILE SERVICED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE BUT THE DEALER REFUSES TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME, REFUSES TO CREATE OR PUT ME ON A CONTACT LIST WHEN THE PART "BECOMES AVAILABLE" AND REFUSES TO ORDER THE PART SO THAT THE ISSUE CAN BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE 2017. THIS YEAR I CALLED ON JAN 10, FEB 12, AND MARCH 7 ONLY TO BE TOLD TO CALL BACK NEXT WEEK. I HAVE CONTACTED VW CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE BUT THE DEALER STILL WILL NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR. CORPORATE ADVISED ME TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES NORTH (ABOUT 90 MINUTES) TO HAVE THE REPAIR COMPLETED. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE DEALER IS ONLY PERFORMING THIS SERVICE WHEN OTHER AUTOMOBILES THAT NEED ANOTHER SERVICE ARE BROUGHT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN MAXIMIZE THE REVENUE. DEALERS LIKE THIS DEFEAT THE ENTIRE RECALL EFFORT.

"TAKATA RECALL" - I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY COMMUNICATION FROM VOLKWAGEN OR MY CAR DEALER, DARCARS VOLKSWAGEN OF SILVER SPRING, MD. I ONLY LEARNED ABOUT THIS RECALL WHEN I APPROACHED ANOTHER DEALER ABOUT USING MY LEASED EOS (RETURNING 6 MONTHS EARLY) FOR THE LEASE OF A GMC VEHICLE. THAT DEALER IS THE ONE WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE AIRBAGS RECALL AND TOLD ME THEY THE VALUE OF MY CAR, WHICH OTHERWISE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WOULD BE NEGATIVE VALUE BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS HAD NOT BEEN REMEDIED. I HAD NO CLUE THERE WAS A TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL FOR MY CAR!!! DOESN'T VW OR MY VW DEALER HAVE SOME RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS OF A RECALL THAT COULD BE A DANGER??!!
"TAKATA RECALL" MY 2014 VW EOS HAS HAD 2 MAJOR LEAKS THAT RESULTED IN WATER STANDING IN THE CAR. I HAVE HAD TO USE A GREEN MACHINE TO VACUUM OUT THE WATER TWICE. THE HUMIDLY WAS SO HIGH AND THE TEMPERATURE IN THE SUMMER RESULTED IN 100% HUMIDITY IN THE CAR. THE DEALER FINALLY GOT THE LEAKS FIXED AND VW REPLACED THE CARPETS. I AM STILL WORRIED ABOUT THE AIR BAGS AND VW WILL DO NOTHING, THE LADY TOLD ME GOVERNMENT (NHTSA) HAS NOT GIVEN A TIME LINE FOR REPAIRS AND THEIR HANDS ARE TIED. MY CAR SETS IN THE BACK YARD I AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT. THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 2500 MILES. I BROUGHT THE CAR NEW AND WASTED THE MONEY YOU GUYS NEED TO STEP UP AND GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED, VW SAYS EVEN WITH THE LOCATION BEING IN TENNESSEE THERE IS STILL 6 MORE YEARS BEFORE THE AIRBAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE HAVE TO GET KILLED OR INJURED BEFORE YOU STEP UP? I DO NOT WANT TO RISK MY LIFE ON THE CHANCE THE AIRBAG IS GOOD FOR 6 YEARS. YOU KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM FORCE THEM TO FIX IT.

TAKATA RECALL. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT INJURY IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND THAT TAKATA HAS NOT PROVIDED A REMEDY TO MY DEALER SOUTHERN VOLKSWAGEN IN CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA.
SUBJECT: TAKATA RECALL. DEAR SIR/MADAM, WE OWN A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN EOS AND RECEIVED NOTIFICATION EARLIER THIS YEAR ABOUT THE AIR BAGS RECALL; HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR SEEM TO BE STILL UNAVAILABLE AND OUR CAR IS IN THE WAITING LIST YET. AS OF KNOW, UNFORTUNATELY, VOLKSWAGEN HAS BEEN UNABLE TO GIVE US A DATE TO REPAIR OUR CAR. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN WHEN VEHICLE OCCUPANTS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH? SINCE THE RECALL WE HAVE THE STRESS OF WONDERING IF SOMEBODY IS GOING TO HIT US AND IF THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG MIGHT EXPLODE WHEN DEPLOYED. OUR CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY LAST YEAR (2015), WE WERE WONDERING IF WE ARE ENTITLED TO A REFUND OR SOME KIND OF COMPENSATION BECAUSE WE ARE INTENDING TO SELL THIS CAR UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL CONDITIONS. WE UNDERSTAND THAT MANUFACTURERS ARE REQUIRED TO REPAIR, REPLACE, OR REFUND OUR CAR FREE OF CHARGE AND IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, WHICH WE BELIEVE HAS ALREADY BEEN EXCEEDED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE TERM REASONABLE HAS NOT BEEN DEFINED. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT VOLKSWAGEN (AND ANY OTHER MANUFACTURER) IS NOT OBLIGED AFTER A SPECIFIC AMOUNT OF TIME TO REFUND THE BUYERS OR TO PROVIDE WITH A SUBSTITUTION CAR UNTIL THE AIRBAGS ARE FIXED AT LEAST? I AM REQUESTING NHTSA'S ASSISTANCE TO DEFEND OUR RIGHT TO A RECALL REMEDY AND IN GENERAL TO DEAL WITH THIS MATTER AS WE ARE CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE. BEST REGARDS *TR
TAKATA RECALL. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT I HAVE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT I HAVE A PART IN MY AIRBAG THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO KILL ME, BUT THAT VW HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REPLACE IT FOR ME. IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN I SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. HOW CAN I BE EXPECTED TO DRIVE A CAR THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD HAS THIS POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING COMPONENT. ITS UTTERLY SHAMEFUL.
TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED LETTER IN THE MAIL RE: SAFETY RECALLED. CONTATCTED VW TO REQUEST 1. TERMINATION OF LEASE OR 2. THAT THE FIX THE CAR IMMEDIATELY OR 3. PROVIDE ME WITH AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE THAT IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN THE INTERRIM AND THE OVERALL RESULT IS THAT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HELPFUL AT ALL. I AM VERY DISSATISIFIED WITH THE WAY THEY ARE HANDLING THIS AND I AM VERY SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH MYSELF OR FAMILY MEMBERS IN IT, AS THE LETTER THEY SENT INDICATES THIS SITUATION "MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS". I PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO LEASE THIS VEHICLE AND I WOULD EXPECT A CERTAIN LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM AND CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMER, ESPECIALLY BY A CAR MANUFACTURER. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE PERSONAL WELL BEING AND SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND MYSELF AND AM REQUESTING ASSISTANCE TO DEAL WITH THIS MATTER.

TAKATA RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY VW THAT MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BUT THERE IS NOT YET A FIX FOR MY VEHICLE. MUST THEY TAKE THE LEASE BACK OR DO I SIMPLY NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND HAVE ONE LESS CAR?
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, OCTOBER 25, WHEN THE GLASS SUNROOF OF MY CAR EXPLODED & SHATTERED OUT OF NOWHERE & WITHOUT ANY WARNING. PIECES OF GLASS CAME DOWN THROUGH THE HOLE, SHOWERING MY DOG & I. I PULLED TO THE SIDE SAFELY & CALL THE POLICE. THANK GOD THE DOG & I WERE NOT INJURED & I DIDN'T INJURE OTHER DRIVERS. I DIDN'T HIT A POT HOLE & I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE I WAS HIT BY A ROCK OR ANY OBJECT, I WASN'T EVEN NEAR ANY OVERPASSES. I CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN TO ASK HOW & WHY THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED FOR NO REASON. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE CAR TO ONE OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA FOR INSPECTION/INVESTIGATION. I WAS TOLD IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE. THEY COULD NOT CONCLUDE IF THE DAMAGE WAS DUE TO EXTERNAL SOURCE OR DEFECT BASED ON THE INSPECTION/INVESTIGATION AT THE DEALERSHIP. AS SUCH, VOLKSWAGEN REFUSED TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR BECAUSE THERE ARE NO RECALLS OF SUCH PROBLEM & BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY. I AM SO UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY THE GLASS SUNROOF JUST EXPLODED. IT SENT GLASS FLYING BUT IT DID NOT HIT ANY CARS BEHIND ME. THERE WERE NO OVERPASSES WHEREBY SOMEONE COULD HAVE THROWN AN OBJECT TO BREAK THE GLASS. MY WIFE AND I WERE NOT INJURED BECAUSE, THANKFULLY, THE INSIDE COVER WAS NOT OPEN OR WE WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED AS WE WERE AMAZED AT THE SHARP PIECES THAT STAYED ON THE INSIDE OF HE SUNROOF. THEY WERE LIKE DAGGERS AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT VOLKSWAGEN WOULD NOT USE SAFETY GLASS. VOLKSWAGEN REPAIRED THE SUNROOF WITHOUT ANY CHARGE BUT INSISTED THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS REPORTED ABOUT THIS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS WAS STRANGE BECAUSE WHY WOULD THEY FIX THIS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG BECAUSE IT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE PART TO REPLACE AND IT WASN'T JUST THE GLASS. JUST LAST NIGHT ON NBC NEWS THEY HAD A STORY ABOUT SUNROOFS EXPLODING IN THE SAME MANNER AS MINE AND AGAIN, FORTUNATELY, THE PEOPLE HAD THE INSIDE COVER OVER THE SUNROOF SO THEY WERE NOT INJURED BY THE FLYING GLASS. HOPEFULLY, SOMETHING CAN BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR WORSE, KILLED. IN MY CASE I WON'T OPEN THE COVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 30 MPH <1 MILE FROM HOME THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, AND MY WIFE WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AS THE SEATBELT DID NOT CATCH. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN HOME AT 10 MPH AND PARKED. I DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK APPROX. 30 MINUTES LATER AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING FROM 25 MPH ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. AGAIN, THE SEATBELT DID NOT RESTRAIN ME WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED. IN BOTH CASES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION INDICATOR CAME ON. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC! THE SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT WOULD NO DOUBT HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND ANY VEHICLES NEARBY COULD EASILY HAVE CREATED A MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT. *TR
