Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 vehicles manufactured September 14, 2009, to October 11, 2010. In the affected vehicles, one of the leaf springs may fracture due to stress or corrosion. While being driven, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components including the fuel tank, possibly puncturing the tank and causing a fuel leak.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners and dealers will install new rear leaf spring assemblies. The recall began on January 29, 2016. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

The affected vehicles may list incorrect spare tire size and/or cold tire inflation information on the tire placard. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."
Remedy: For the involved vehicles, overlay stickers to correct the tire placard will either be mailed to owners or provided to dealers for placement over the incorrect information on the placard. AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Toyota is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, 2008-2010 Highlander, and 2009-2010 Tacoma, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and General Motors Pontiac Vibe vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the steering column assembly contains electrical connections to the driver's airbag module housed in a spiral cable assembly, which includes a Flexible Flat Cable (FFC). Due to the shape and location of the FFC's retainer, the FFC could become damaged when the steering wheel is turned.
Remedy: Toyota will notify the Toyota vehicle owners, and General Motors will notify the Pontiac Vibe owners. Toyota sent owners an interim notification letter in May 2014 to advise owners of the recall. Toyota will mail owners a second letter when remedy parts are available. General Motors sent Pontiac Vibe owners an Interim letter on June 20, 2014 notifying them that parts are currently unavailable. General Motors sent notices to the Pontiac Vibe owners on September 15, 2014, that a remedy is available. The recall began on October 27, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 Tacoma Access Cab vehicles manufactured September 14, 2004, through March 29, 2010; and model year 2011 Tacoma Access Cab vehicles manufactured July 1, 2010, through September 7, 2011. If the access doors are repeatedly and forcefully closed, the screws that attach the seat belt pre-tensioner to the seat belt retractor can loosen over time. If the screws loosen completely, the seat belt pre-tensioner and the retractor spring cover could detach from the seat belt retractor.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt assemblies. Based on the inspection, the seat belt assembly will be replaced or new pre-tensioner screws will be installed with thread-locking sealant and a retractor spring cover with stopper ribs to prevent loosening of the screws. These services will be provided at no cost to the owner. The recall began during February 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

I am the original owner of a 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, 4 door, 4WD, with a 6' bed, VIN # [XXX] , with 215902 miles. During the replacement of the leaf springs on 1/27/26, under recall #14V-604, I was informed by the Toyota dealership that installed the leaf springs that there was extensive corrosion on various points on the frame to the point where it was unsafe to drive. The frame has developed severe perforation and rust-through. There are large holes in the frame, and sections missing. The corrosion is spreading across multiple points, making the vehicle unsafe and at risk of structural failure while driving. I called Toyota and they said the frame recall expired in 2022. I will be asking Toyota if they will still replace the frame as a "Goodwill " replacement. I told Toyota that I was never made aware of this recall or warranty extension and never received any letter regarding it. I did receive other recall notices for this VIN but none for the frame issues. I am waiting for a response from Toyota on what action they will take, if any, to support their product. chassis/frame was recalled on warranty that Toyota did not inform me of and they refused to do anything about it. They said two regular mail letters were sent out to me. I have never received them. The framing of my vehicle is so bad that an accident was waiting to happen when I took my vehicle foreign oil exchange. I asked them to look at the muffler because it was hanging and that’s when they noticed the situation and they stated that you are very lucky that you are alive because the framing could have collapse on the road. I called Toyota and they said the warranty expired on 2019. I told them that I was never aware of this recall but and never received any letter regarding it. I am filing this complaint. I am asking for the company to provide a part and labor it. If they first have contacted me this situation could have been fixed. There has been lawsuits regarding the same situation. if they refuse to fix this situation, I will have to file a lawsuit against Toyota for the labor and part that cost roughly $16,500 plus tax. The car runs very well with no other major issues. They did not either send me a letter of the spring leaf recall. I am asking this agency to get involved this has been a major accident
My 2010 Toyota Tacoma frame is rusted and deteriorated. This has been confirmed by my local Toyota dealership (Ira Toyota of Saco , ME) The vehicle has approximately 130,000 miles and is in otherwise good working order. I do not expect a 15 year old Toyota to have a rusted frame, which has become entirely unsafe. Indeed, the Toyota dealership refused to even put the truck up on the lift given the unsafe condition of the frame . I understand that 2005 -2010 Tacoma trucks had this same issue and there was a class action on 21 May 2017. I also understand that the frame recall expired in 2022. Regardless, I contacted Toyota asking if they would still replace the frame and they responded in the negative. I have attached photos of the frame and a copy of Toyota’s response. Please advise. [XXX] I ordered lower control arms from [XXX] . Not even a year later I had experienced a clunking noise when I turned the steering wheel. That weekend my wife and I rode up to our campsite. Seeing a deer in the road I slowed down only for the truck to veer to the left and almost hitting a logging truck. Talking to a mechanic, he told me that it was the bushings of the lower control arms at fault. Having no choice I bought two new control arms and had a shop put them on. Calling extreme terrain, they told me even though it has not been a year they couldn't give me a refund if I returned the old ones back to them. Recently had routine service done on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma. Mechanic noted a lot of corrosion of the frame, including where leaf springs and axles are connected. He said that he had difficulty putting the vehicle on the lift for service due to the amount of corrosion and that he could not assure me that the vehicle is safe to drive.

The chassis/ frame work of the pickup is rusted, corroded/ rotted. This is a known issue in there was a settlement on a lawsuit related to the problem for this year model and make vehicle and Toyota was responsible to fix the problem at no cost to the customer. I called the Toyota dealership and is being told that there is no outstanding recall for this issue for this VIN#. The fact remains that the vehicle has this safety issue and I’m asking for the repairs to be done at no cost to me. Thanks for your attention to this matter

Truck will not pass inspection due to frame is rusted through. 76000 miles on vehicle. Toyota dealer refused to inspect. Mechanic refused to put vehicle on lift for other repairs.
Was never notified of Class Action suit for rusted frame and replacement. Frame is swiss cheese on a vehicle that has 37,500 miles on it. The body is perfect but the frame is unsafe, did not pass inspection and unrepairable other than a frame replacement. I'm sure there are more of us out there. They performed "rust prevention" but there is no indication of rust. They inspected within 12 years of purchase date but did not replace. There is no way that this extent of rust happened in 2 years.
Frame is totally rusted out and crumbling. Unrepairable. There was a class action suit for this to be replaced, a recall to be replaced for years 2005-2010. The vehicle's body is in excellent condition, mechanically very sound but dangerous and could collapse within a few months.

Frame rotted and will not pass state inspection. Toyota dealer stated there was no recall on the frame, but some kind of warranty extension which is no longer active since 2022. I don't remember getting any notice from Toyota. I did get 3 recall notices, but nothing on the frame. Now they will not fix or do anything. I did not see it when I looked up recalls 2 years ago, and thought it was not effected. I have low mileage (69,000) on the vehicle that runs perfectly, but I its useless because I was never notified the frame had a safety issue. The Toyota dealer says they can't help me at all. My complaint is I was never notified about it and driving an unsafe vehicle. Now it will not pass inspection because Toyota sold me a faulty frame. How can Toyota not stand behind it's vehicles and make good in some way? There must be many others that missed this as well. Please help anyway you can. I was trying to sell my vehicle as private party but I kept being asked, by the potential buyers, if the frame of this vehicle was replaced under a manufacturer recall. Not knowing the right answer I asked a local dealer to verify if a frame recall was performed on my truck and the answer was NO. I bought this truck in Aug. 2018 from a used car dealer which sold me the vehicle AS IS but he didn't inform me that there was an active recall, then ultimately I contacted the manufacturer which told me that the recall was closed in July 2020. Apparently dealers cannot sell vehicles under active recalls unless they are addressed but I was sold one. In all this I've never have been contacted by the manufacturer/dealer to inform me of the recall, also I drove an unsafe vehicle for 5 years without knowing that in case of an accident, serious consequences could have occurred. As of now the vehicle is not on the road. Who would be the responsible party in this issue? Who should take action to address this? Thank you for your help!
Frame has multiple holes in it up front near the cab mounts, dealer told me it doesn’t qualify for a new one or the frame recall that was sent out once even tho google says 15 years after manufacture date, 2010 and it’s not 2025 so I should still qualify. The frame damage was found upon a yearly state inspection so I’m not sure how it passed the first time.

I have contacted "The Toyota Brand engagement center" case#221121001445, and they confirm they cannot and will not do anything for me. I jacked the truck up, following the directions in the owners manual and the jack went right through the frame of the truck. Upon further inspection, the frame was seen to be flaking and crumbling apart. I looked into recalls and found that Toyota settled this situation on 2006-2008 and some 2010 Tacomas. Obviously my 2010 Tacoma is one of the defective ones.
After the truck failed inspection on 10/21/2021 due to underlying rust on the frame, we went researching to find out why a vehicle would experience a severe issue like this. This internet research revealed serious frame rust issues on Toyota Tacomas from 2003-2011 and that Toyota was actually replacing Tacoma frames because they knew of the problem. The next step was calling a local Toyota dealership, which told us that Toyota is replacing frames for rust under what they call a “warranty extension,” but it had just expired on 10/13/2021… 8 days prior to the failed inspection and they would no longer fix the problem. Before the failed inspection, we were never aware of this severe frame issue with many years of trucks… so we then called the Toyota company and they said they would no longer fix this issue, which leaves owners to either pay $10,000+ to replace the frame, or send their vehicle to be junked at the salvage yard. This is not standing by their product or taking care of serious safety issues, especially when most vehicles won’t show these signs of rust for 10-15 years… which basically forces many 2003-2011 Toyota Tacoma owners to take a total loss on their vehicles or pay more than $10,000 for Toyota’s mistake on these frames. The safety risks with having the frame rust out are obvious, because the frame is critical to the structure of the vehicle and could cause serious injury to passengers and vehicles passing by, if and when it breaks… if not caught by a yearly inspection.
Stepping on the break sometimes I have a good firm brake pedal others seem to go almost to the floor. Talking with a mechanic he had told me that there was numerous Toyota tacomas with the same issue. I have tried bleeding the brakes and still have the same symptoms I would think this would be a safety issue.

ON 14 NOV 2020, I CALLED COGGINS TOYOTA, IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA IN REGARDS TO A RECALL ON LEAF SPRINGS FOR MY 2010 TACOMA. PER THE RECALL REMEDY ON THEIR WEBSITE, "TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS WITH NEWLY DESIGNED ONES." THE SUPERVISOR AT COGGINS (JENNY, I BELIEVE) TOLD ME THE REMEDY WOULD ONLY BE IMPLEMENTED IF THE DEFECT CAN BE PHYSICALLY IDENTIFIED VIA INSPECTION, REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT SAYS ON THEIR RECALL WEB SITE. SHE REFUSED TO IMPLEMENT THE REMEDY IN SPITE OF THE RISK FACTORS, WHICH INCLUDE POSSIBLE FIRE INVOLVING THE FUEL TANK. TOYOTA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO MITIGATE THE HAZARD, NOT WAIT FOR IT TO PRESENT ITSELF AND CAUSE HARM OR DEATH.
