NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN FRONT AND REAR LOWER LINKS, P/NOS. 54501ZQ00A, 54500ZQ00A, 551A1ZQ00A, 551A0ZQ00A , 54501EA00A, 54500EA00A, 551A1EA500, 551A0EA500, 54501ZR00A, AND 54500ZR00A, SOLD BETWEEN NOVEMBER 25, 2009 AND MAY 14, 2010 AS REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR MODEL YEAR 2004 THROUGH 2010 TITAN, ARMADA, AND QX56, AND MODEL YEARS 2005 THROUGH 2010 FRONTIER, XTERRA, AND PATHFINDER VEHICLES. THE LOWER CONTROL LINK ASSEMBLY HAS TWO CYLINDRICAL COLLARS FORMING THE INBOARD ATTACHMENT POINTS TO THE CHASSIS. DUE TO AN IMPROPER WELDING PROCESS SOME COLLARS MAY CONTAIN WELDS THAT DO NOT MEET STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.
Remedy: NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY AFFECTED LOWER LINK FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.

I took my 2007 Nissan Xterra to the dealer on 08/04/2025 to complete the air bag safety recall. The dealer performed the recall service, but the recall status has not been updated in the system or on the NHTSA website. It still shows as “incomplete.” Because the recall remains listed as open, I am unable to pass my brake and light inspection or complete my vehicle registration with the DMV. I have contacted the dealer and Nissan customer service multiple times, but they have not corrected the recall record or provided a timeline for when it will be updated. The recall has technically been completed, but Nissan’s failure to update the record is preventing my vehicle from being legally inspected and registered. I am requesting NHTSA’s help to ensure the manufacturer updates the recall status properly.

Oil is getting into the radiator and causing a gray gunk build up in radiator and possibly the engine. I have had the car less than a 1 1/2 years And I've already had to have the same issue fixed 3 × first time. The heater hose blew out caused an air bubble in the radiator which caused us to have to burp the radiator Which is when we found it the first time had sent it to the mechanic. Had it flushed, had it fixed. it was fine or so we thought until about a month ago. Car overheats radiator fluid spews out everywhere. Fix the hose, add radiator fluid and start. The burping process again and out comes the gray gunk. Sent it back to mechanic had it flush had gaskets to the transmission cooler and Oil cooler fixed. Mechanic cannot find how it's getting into radiator. Break pads wear prematurely due to calipers constantly sticking. Rust is everywhere on frame, suspension, shocks undercarriage and body. Vdc/slip light will come on while driving causing the car to stall at any speed. Fixed those sensors 2 times since I bought the car in December 2023 from a used car lot. State I I've in has no laws to protect people buying from used car lots but they do for new cars even though new cars come with warranties. Should be the other way around protect the people who can't afford the 30000 dollar cars. There's a reason we go to used car lots. Paid 4500 after taxes and registration and have put almost 5000 into it. Nissan is aware of the problem just not enough to deem a recall.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V690000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle, the air bag warning light was blinking. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and the contact was informed that a diagnostic test was needed to determine the cause of the failure. The contact refused to pay for the diagnostic test and stated that the warning light was not illuminated prior to the recall repair being performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was driving just fine, then about a month later the heat gauge started to fluctuate, i replaced the radiator caps, thermostat...it ran good for another month, started to overheat....i made sure water was in radiator and overflow...about a month went by the gauge started to fluctuate again, i had it towed to sayre auto parts in sayre, al to have a water pump installed and the mechanic told me their is now there is water in my oil, meaning a cracked head gasket...the vehicle never got over the 3/4 mark on gauge and this is the 2nd vehicle ive purchased that the same thing has happened to.

There is usual rust on body of truck. There is some kind of electrical problem rather it’s the security system or wiring. There’s a clicking sound coming from dash area. There is a suspension problem, has to change leaf springs, struts and shocks often.

The airbag warning light came on. The vehicle is registered in a state that uses heavy amounts of salt on the roads in winter. Nissan had a recall campaign for this exact thing that they closed. Now, they refuse to diagnose or repair the issue and expect me to pay for it completely. They refuse to fix a problem they already admitted was their fault due to the fact they thought everyone should have gotten it fixed already. However, the vehicle is new to me and only started having the problem this winter.
The radiator has cracked at the top which caused me to break down because the car stopped moving.
Aprox. three years ago, I reported a problem with the fuel gauge not giving true readings. After taking the car to be tested, I was advised that the sending unit was faulty, and the mechanic believed that there was a recall on the matter (he had heard of many people having the same problem). After doing online research, I came across hundreds, if not thousands of Xterra owners reporting the same problem. I called Nissan, and I was advised that there were no recalls on this matter. That does not make sense, for it seems obvious, based on my research, that this--among other common problems (such as the Airbag light coming on)--are very prevalent, and seem to be due to a manufacturing/design problem.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL THE SUDDEN THE SUV STARTED LOOSING SPEED UNTIL IT CAME TO A COMPLETELY STOP IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE BALTIMORE BELTWAY 695 WHICH MADE A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME. CARS FLYING BY ON BOTH SIDES OF ME. HAD A POLICE OFFICER STOP TRAFFIC SO THAT I COULD DRIFT IT BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL TO GET IT TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. FOUND OUT IT WAS THE DDEFAULTY RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT. IT DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY NOTICE THAT IT WAS ANYTHING WRONG. EXCEPT LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. IT COSTS ME THOUSANDS TO GET A REPLACEMENT RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AT THE NISSAN DEALER. MY VEHICLE HAD 105,000 MILES ON IT.

THE CORNER CUTTING DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE COMMONLY KNOWN AS SMOD (STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKE OF DEATH, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THE COOLANT MIX IN BOTH THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION) HAS CAUSED THE TCM TO BECOME DAMAGED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE WHEELS GOING UP A HILL THEN WOULDNT START AFTER TURNING IT OFF, WEVE CHANGED THE FILTER, FLUID AND SOLENOIDS ON THE VALVE BODY, BUT THE TCM STILL ISNT WORKING. WE CAN START THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT AROUND A BIT, ONCE IT GETS TO 3RD GEAR IT RUNS FINE, BUT IN LOWER GEARS (EXCEPT FOR WHEN IN REVERSE) IT STRUGGLES, THEN AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS BECAUSE THE TCM ISNT WORKING PROPERLY, THIS ISSUE PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING AGAIN WITHIN ABOUT 1 HOUR OF TURNING IT OFF. AS STATED EARLIER THIS TCM ISSUE CAME TO LIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO GO UP A HILL, IF TRAFFIC WERE ANY WORSE THAN IT WAS THIS COULDVE POTENTIALLY LED TO A DISASTER THAT WOULDVE MADE HAVING TO WAIT ABOUT AN HOUR FOR PICKUP SEEM LIKE NOTHING. THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY NISSAN CUTTING CORNERS AND ITS A COMMON ISSUE THATS LED TO MANY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVING TO COVER REPAIRS OR JUST GIVE UP ON THE VEHICLE.

A COUPLE OF MONTHS BACK I REPORTED THIS FUEL LEVEL PROBLEM I BELIEVE IN JULY, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THIS XTERRA 2007 (WE HAVE TWO A 2005 AND THIS 2007) SHE DRIVING IN THE CENTER LANE ON THE I-30 INTERSTATE WHEN THE XTERRA JUST CUT OUT, LOOKING AT THE DASH SHE SAID IT HAS FUEL ABOUT A 1/4 TANK , SHE SAID SHE JUST MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE SAFETY LANE WHEN STOPPED. I WENT TO HER AIDE TO FIND THE CHECK ENGINE LITE ON AND IT WOULDNT START, I TOOK A TWO FOOT PIECE OF TWO BY FOUR AND WRAPPED THE TANK AND IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS EMPTY AND WHATS FUNNY THE GAUGE INSIDE NOW READS EMPTY..GOT HER GAS AND I DROVE IT HOME. I REPORT THIS TO YOU GUYS AND NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK ABOUT THIS. IN FACT THE COMPLAINT DOESY SHOW UP IN YOUR LISTING EXPLAIN THAT! I'IM A MECHANICAL ENGINEER AND DONE MY FAIR SHARE OF FAILURE ANALYSIS IN MY CAREER AND WHATS GOING ON WITH THIS XTERRA IS A HEAT RELATED CONDITION. 1. THE PUMP IS SPRING LOADED TO BE ABLE TO KEEP CONTACT WITH THE TANK TO PICKUP FUEL. 2. THE TANK BEING MADE OF POLY MATERIAL PLASTIC EXPANDS CAUSING THE THE PUMP TO JACK SCREW IN HE DIRECTION OF THE SPRING WHICH ROTATES THE SENDING UNIT PICK ARM TO LODGE IT SELF AGAINST THE THE TANK EMBOSSMENT AND NOT ALLOWING THE ARM TO COME TO REST AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK. I FOUND OUT THIS CONFIRM THE PROBLEM WITH A RECALL NOTICE FOR 2006 AND 2008 BNUT WHY NOT THE 2007 ITS SAME DAM CONFGURATION ,SAME PARTS ,SAME TANK, ,07,08 PART NUMBER17202-9BM2A, SENDER 25060-ZZ00A, PUMP IS THE SAME 17040-ZS00A, SO WHY WASNT THE 2007 INCLUDED IN THE RECALL A TYPING ERROR :SUMMARY 10V75500 READS":NISSAN IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 AND MODEL YEAR 2008 " SHOULD HAVE READ MODELS 2006,2007 AND MODEL YEAR 2008. HOW COULD YOU GUYS MISS THIS? DONT YOU EVER DO A CHECK ON "WHERE USED" WITH XXXX MODELS? IF A PART IS USED BY THE SAME TYPE OF UNIT IT WILL ALSO HAVE THE SAME FAILURE OCCURE .

FOR THE PAST YEAR AND INTERMITTEDLY THIS SUV HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR THAT SOMETIMES WORKS AND OTHER TIMES DOESNT WORKS. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ON THIS VEHICLE. I POINTED OUT TO HIME THAT THERE WAS FOR THE YEAR BEFORE VEHICLE AND THE YEAR AFTER WHY THERE WASNT WHEN THE SETUP ON THIS GAUGE IS THE SAME SYSTEM WITH A SPRING LOADED PUMP AND LEVEL ARM IN THE YEARS IN THE RECALL" IT THE SAME DAM SYSTEM" THAT THE RECALL CALLS OUT IN 05,06 AND 08 BUT NOT THE 2007 ?WHO AT NTSB DIDNT LOOK AT THE SAME AS PART BEING THE PROBLEM AND A WHERE USED AND SHOULD HAVE FORCED THE RECALL ON THE SYSTEM AND YEARS USED. WE HAVE SINCE STOPPED DRIVING THE XTERRA BUT TELL THE GAS LEVEL IN THE TANK OR ESTIMATE FUEL USED, AND FILLING THE TANK DOESNT ALWAYS SOLVE THE PROBLEM, IT WILL STILL SHOW A 1/4 OF A TANK UNTIL YOU CLIMB UNDER THE VEHICLE AND BANG THE TANK TO FREE UP THE SENDING UNIT..
ALL THE SUDDEN MY XTERRA WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND SHUT DOWN. TOWED TO GARAGE TO FIND OUT COLLECT LEAKED WITH OIL AND DAMAGED TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHO PROVIDED NO HELP AND QUOTE FOR $5800.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED SOUTH COLORADO SPRINGS NISSAN AT 719-493-9586 (LOCATED AT 1333 SOUTH ACADEMY BLVD., COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80916) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V075000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A BROKER AND NOT A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT NISSAN DID NOT MAKE MISTAKES WITH RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
TAKATA RECALL, THE AIRBAG FAULTY LIGHT IS FLASHING IN THE DASH OF THE CAR EVEN THOUGH THE REPAIR WAS PREFORMED AT NISSAN FOR THE RECALL. FLASHING ALLWAYS IN PARK OR MOVING.

IN MARCH 2019 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED GETTING SLUGGISH WHILE DROPPING MY DAUGHTER AT SCHOOL ONE DAY. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS AS I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY FROM MY 1.5 MILE TRIP TO/FROM THE SCHOOL. EVENTUALLY IT WOULDN'T EVEN START IN MY DRIVEWAY EVEN WITH GOOD BATTERY. REPLACED A FUSE FOR THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT BLEW THE FUSE. HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED DISCOVERED THAT THE COOLANT MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING INVOLVED. ALSO, THE MECHANISM THAT OPENS THE TAILGATE/TRUNK DOOR/LIFTGATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN, ESPECIALLY IN COLDER WEATHER. IT HAS HIT SEVERAL PEOPLE IN THE HEAD AND IS A DEFINITE HAZARD.
