FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured May 9, 2006, to July 20, 2010, 2006-2011 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured January 6, 2005, to September 10, 2010, and 2006-2011 Lexus IS vehicles manufactured August 30, 2005, to September 10, 2010. Due to anti-corrosion plating remnants, fuel may leak from where the fuel pressure sensor is attached to the fuel delivery pipe.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will clean and reseal the fuel pressure sensor mounting area, free of charge. The recall began March 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 AND 2010 LEXUS LS460 AND LS600 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 20, 2009 THROUGH MAY 13, 2010. A PROGRAMMING CHANGE OF THE STEERING CONTROL ECU FOR THE VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING (VGRS) SYSTEM CAN CAUSE IMPROPER ACTIVATION OF THE STEERING SYSTEM PROTECTION LOGIC DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE SYSTEM WHEN LARGER THAN NORMAL STEERING INPUTS ARE APPLIED AT A FULLY TURNED POSITION.
Remedy: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND LEXUS DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STEERING CONTROL ECU FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 12, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V218000 (Steering) because the recall had expired. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER 20% OF THE PARTS COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED A SPINAL FRACTURE, EYE SOCKET FRACTURE, AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. I AM EXPERIENCING AN ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTUATOR FAILURE. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE IT GIVES THE WARNING "STOP THE VEHICLE AND CONTACT A DEALER". I HAVE DID THIS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT TOYOTA/LEXUS IS AWARE OF AS THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT AND OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS LIMITED BY MILEAGE AND YEARS. BEING A KEY SAFETY COMPONENT IN VEHICLE OPERATION, I AM REQUESTING THIS ISSUE BE CONVERTED INTO A RECALL. I HAVE TRIED TO GET REPAIR ASSISTANCE FROM LEXUS CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND THEY DENIED THE REQUEST BASED ON MILEAGE.

AUTO CLINIC OF IRVINE, CALIFORNIA, A NON-LEXUS DEALER, PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN TSB: L-SB-0036-15 REV, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ONCE BY A LEXUS DEALER, A LEXUS DIAGNOSTIC MUST BE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR 100,000 MILES UNTIL FEBRUARY 28, 2016 OR UNTIL THE MILEAGE CAP WAS REACHED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE TYPE OF FUEL BEING USED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ORDERED THE LOCAL DEALER TO PERFORM EXTENDED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000.

THE LOUDNESS OF THE AUDIBLE TURN INDICATOR IS FAR TOO LOW SO THAT THE FACT THAT THE INDICATOR IS BLINKING CAN BE IGNORED AFTER A TURN. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE CARS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY MIGHT THINK THAT MY CAR IS TURNING WHEN IN FACT IT'S GOING TO CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD. *TR
