This vehicle is mostly garaged when not on the road and has approximately 33,800 miles on it. On 12/19/2025 I parked the car in a lot while I went to an appointment in Allendale, NJ. It rained fairly heavily. About an hour later I returned to my vehicle and found water dripping down the inside of the left side of the front windshield and mirror over and onto the steering wheel and housing, and onto the dashboard. I immediately wiped the water up and drove to my Land Rover dealer in Paramus, NJ where the car had been purchased new in 2019. An appointment was made for 2 weeks later. I was told there were other incidents of windshield leaks in the model (and possibly other LR Products) and they said they couldn't do temporary fixes and either windshield had to be replaced or possible fix w/o replacement. I recently found on line various incidents reported of windshield leaks some of which damaged electrical connections that caused driving and safety hazards. Also found Lemon Law case advertisement (2024?) about this type of damage. Significantly, found online 3/23/2020 LR “Service Action N221 Windshield Water” re 2018 Discovery & 2015-2018 Evoque, See attached. My local auto body shop put on temporary tape to mitigate leak until fixed. Have been driving for many years & owned numerous cars over that time. I never saw or heard of such a leak. For this to happen out of the blue in my view in a well maintained car that looks brand new is a manufacturing defect that the manufacturer should be responsible for beyond any warranty without the need for litigation, as well as a safety and driving hazard that should not occur.
The windshield seal failed at the top of the windshield, allowing significant water intrusion into the vehicle cabin. The windshield had previously been replaced under a manufacturer recall/service action, but that repair failed. Water intrusion caused failure of the Occupant Restraint Control Module (RCM), impairing airbag system functionality. Water also damaged the audio amplifier and other electronic components. Interior flooring and insulation are saturated and require removal and remediation. The defect was confirmed by an authorized Land Rover dealer, who identified the source of the leak as a defective windshield seal. Warning messages related to vehicle systems appeared after the water intrusion was discovered. The vehicle is no longer safe to operate due to compromised safety systems. This is the second Land Rover Discovery I have owned that has experienced catastrophic windshield sealing failure resulting in extensive water damage. The manufacturer declined responsibility and advised filing an insurance claim.

The Land Rover Discovery was in "reverse". Not aware that the vehicle was in reverse, the car door was opened and the driver started to step out of the car. At a high rate of speed (approximately 5-7 MPH), the vehicle automatically accelerated in reverse, the open car door hit the garage track and ripped the driver side door off. the vehicle continued in reverse and slammed into an neighbor's structure. With the car door opened, like many other cars, the car should not have moved. with the driver not sitting in the seat, the car should not have moved. the high rate of acceleration was an additional issue, whether that waas software related or not is unknown. The driver side door was hanging by the electronics and the vehicle is still being accessed but the "A" frame is suspected to be bent.

The door latch on the rear right of the car failed while driving, Door wouldn't close, My 8 year old son sits on that side for school runs. This was replaced under the recall but it failed again. Also I've had 2 window regulators go in this vehicle apparently it's a common problem window would not go up or down.
On May 18, 2024 at approximately 4pm, my husband turned on my 2019 Land Rover Discovery from a cold start after sitting parked for about 20 minutes. We heard a slight rattle upon start-up, so he turned the car ignition off. He restarted the car after about a minute and we did not hear the rattle. We began driving the car and after about 2-3 miles, the car started shuddering and began slowing down but did not completely stall. My husband turned off the car again and we waited for a couple of minutes and he restarted the car. It drove fine for about a mile and began shuddering/hesitating again as we were driving. Then the car made a loud warning sound, a warning light flickered on the dash and the engine completely turned off as we were driving. We were in the middle of traffic and had we been on the freeway, there would have been catastrophic consequences as the engine completely stopped. We thankfully were able to coast to a side-street on our immediate right and stopped. The engine would not turn over and my husband was unable to restart the car. I immediately made an appointment with my local Land Rover dealership for 3 days later (next available) and had the truck towed there. After inspection, they told me they believed the main bearing in the engine failed due to an oil pump failure and that the engine would need to be replaced. My truck is 5 years old and has less than 100,000 miles (only about 80K). No previous warning lights! A car this expensive and with so few miles with regular maintenance service being performed by either Land Rover or AAA, shouldn’t need a new engine. This is after I’d had the camshaft adjuster/timing chain replaced in this truck by the same dealership only 3 months prior! After speaking to the service person, he informed me that 2 other Land Rovers were sitting in the dealership waiting for the SAME engine and waiting for 4-5 months to be delivered from the manufacturer with NO ETA! Known, dangerous problem! Please help resolve!
The vehicle leaks water from the top, middle and top right (passenger) of the windshield. Whenever it's raining water drips down the inside of the windshield and falls on the dash. in the mornings, after heavy rains, water can be found on the drivers and passengers seat, as well as in the cupholders this waterfalls all over the central electronic system and navigation, and seems only a matter of time before these systems will fail as well. When reporting it to the dealer, the dealer mentioned that this has been a common problem for this generation discovery, however, are not willing to replace the windshield under warranty.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear driver's side door latch was internally faulty, and the rear driver's side door latch was replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V393000 (Electrical System, Latches, Locks, and Linkages); however, the contact had not received the recall notification. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
Windshield is leaking and during heavy rain it floods the cup holders and damages the electronics. Exactly like previous recall https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10173517-0001.pdf Windshield has never been replaced and the vehicle has never been in an accident.

The contact owns a 2019 Land Rover Discovery. The contact stated after reversing and then shifting the vehicle into park, the warning light illuminated stating that the vehicle was in drive. The contact attempted to turn off the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to turn off. The contact disconnected the battery, and the vehicle was able to operate normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated the vehicle warranty had expired. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Suddenly, one morning on my way to work the steering became extremely heavy and the handling became very dull. The steering wheel still turned the wheels, but it required a vast amount of effort where the previous day the steering wheel could have been turned with one finger. There were no noises coming from the steering column, or warning lights associated with the defect. No smells associated with friction from parts rubbing together, either. Totally silent. I consulted the manual and no mention was made re: what was happening. It had advised to call an authorized dealer to have it inspected. A trip to the dealership confirmed that the steering gear assembly (a $5,000 part) had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealership did not make mention of this issue being common, or even having happened recently with a similar model/year. There is almost no power assistance coming through the steering, and I am worried about what could happen as a result. Perhaps the steering itself will become impossible? The dealer was uncertain as to whether it posed a greater issue or was just "an annoyance".
The car will go dead. Had battery replaced at dealer on 5-28-22. 2 days later the car was dead and will not start. After messing with the negative cable where it’s connected to the chassis was able to start the car. After the car was running for about a minute the negative cable was very hot to the touch. This has been an ongoing problem with this car. After see other recalls for this battery cable issue am afraid the car could die while driving it. Our VIN is not associated with any recall. We feel the car is unsafe to drive and can also leave was stranded.
On two separate occasions, the rear door latch failed on this vehicle, resulting in the door opening unexpectedly while in motion. First incident, Left Rear Door, occurred Sept 17, 2020. The second incident, Right Rear door, happened May 15, 2021. Had anyone been sitting in the rear seats at that time, they would have been at risk of falling out of the vehicle. Both incidents were confirmed and repaired by the dealer. (see attached invoices) In both cases, the door stayed closed just enough such that the open door warning on the dash did not illuminate.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS FOLDED IN AND OUT INDEPENDENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRUCK WOULD UNLOCK INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LAND ROVER PARAMUS (405 NJ-17, PARAMUS, NJ 07652) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL ISSUES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED $1,500 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING MY LAND ROVER DISCOVERY I NOTICED THERE WAS A LAG TIME WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN MAKING A TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY UPDATING THE SYSTEM. THEY UPDATED IT BUT IT CONTINUED TO HAVE THE LAG ISSUE SO I COMPLAINED AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT'S THE NATURE OF THE CAR. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND THEY CLAIM THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO SAY IT'S AN ISSUE WITH CAR. I ALSO HAVE HAD OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE NAVIGATION SCREEN GOING BLANK WHILE DRIVING OR NOT COMING ON AT ALL AND ALSO MY REMOTE KEY FOBS DO NOT WORK ALL THE TIME. EVEN WITH THE REMOTES IN MY HAND NEAR THE CONSOLE THE CAR WILL SAY THEY ARE NOT DETECTED. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE. TODAY, I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM LAND ROVER STATING THERE ARE VARIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH CAR WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD CUT OUT WHILE IN MOTION AND MAY LOSE ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THEY ARE BOOKED OUT FOR 3 WEEKS SO I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS UNSAFE CAR. I THINK IT'S VERY IRRESPONSIBLE OF LAND ROVER TO PUT OWNERS IN A POSITION TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VERY UNSAFE CAR. THESE CARS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD.

THERE'S A WATER-PROOFING DEFECT WITH THE DISCOVERY LAND ROVER (AT LEAST 2017-2019). I PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED NEW A 2017 DISCOVERY NEW, AND WATER ENTERED FROM THE ROOF AND WINDSHIELD AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT WITH A 2019. SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING - WITH RAIN WATER ENTERING FROM WINDSHIELD AND ROOF AND FLOODING INTERIOR OF CAR. APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING THAT CAUSES SAFETY ISSUES AS WATER IS LITERALLY DRIPPING ON THE DRIVER AND FRONT INTERIOR WHILE I DRIVE THE CAR.

BOUGHT CAR LAST MAY, 2019, AND WITHIN FOUR MONTHS WAS BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. WATER GOT INSIDE MY VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WITH WATER EVERYWHERE INSIDE, INCLUDING THE DASHBOARD, SCREEN AND MAIN CONSOLE. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FROM THE WINDOW RECALLS, BUT MINE NEVER WAS RECALLED. THEY SAID THE SEALS WHERE FAULTY. FAULTY ENGINE O2 SENSOR (THREE FAULTY CODES) RIGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM MY WINDSHIELD REPAIR. TURNED AROUND AND DROPPED CAR BACK OFF. CAMERA SYSTEM FAULT MESSAGE WAS ON THE SCREEN. THEY CLAIM NOTHING WAS WRONG. THIS WAS AFTER WATER GOT INTO MY CAR. BASICALLY, I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE NEXT THING TO HAPPEN WITH MY CAR WITH SO MUCH WATER GETTING INSIDE THE CABIN AND MAIN CONSOLE AREA. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AS EVERYTHING IS WORKING NOW. VEHICLE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE WHEN WATER GOT INSIDE. WHEN OTHER ITEMS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING. THESE HAPPENED ON JUNE OF 2019, SEPTEMBER OF 2019 AND NOVEMBER 0F 2019.
