2026 IC BUS CESB Recalls, Complaints & Safety

STRUCTURE:BODY

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 18, 2026. International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. While carrying the maximum number of occupants, the bus may exceed Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when the fuel tank and fluid reservoirs are full.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair suspension as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed by December 22, 2025. Owners will receive another notice once remedy becomes available, anticipated late May 2026. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. The transmission shift actuator may not have been calibrated properly, preventing the transmission from shifting into reverse.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. A tire may contact and damage the air dryer discharge line, causing an air leak and the unintentional activation of the parking brake.

The underfloor reinforcement may not have been installed, compromising the structural integrity of the buses. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" and 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."
