Recall for my 2012 hyundai azera number 251 Anti-Brake System (ABS) module that could leak and cause an electrical short that could result in a fire. They want to change a fuse from 40 to 30 amp so when the problem occurs fuse will blow. They should fix the problem replace ABS module. What happens if fuse blows will the replace fuse or fix problem. This has cost me gas money and time. I went to dealership they said I had to make a appointment so now I have to go back for them to replace a fuse this is not right ABS should be fixed. Thank you

In 2023, Hyundai approved to pay for repairs of vehicles that suffer premature engine failures due to issues such as low oil, metal debris and/or fire in the engine. These issues were predominately found in the GDI engines in Kia and Hyundai vehicles. This suit failed to take into account the Hyundai Azera model and the 3.3 GDI engine. Same engine maker as the 2.2 and 2.4 models. My car stalled out in the middle of traffic with no warning lights for low oil or engine issues. The car was serviced previously with no coded issues noted accept excessive oil burning which was noted with all Hyundai models from the last decade. The GDI 3.3 has the most noted issues and is the most expensive to replace from the dealer. The engines are failing before the car is broken in the manufacture is making money on the replacement engines from customers who are still trying to pay the car off.

This recall on the anti-lock brake system was initiated 11 months ago. I brought the Azera into the dealer 2 months ago and they said they had to order parts. I called today and spoke to the parts department. He said he is restricted from ordering the correct part and has no idea when he will be able to order it. Why is Hyundai stalling with this recall?

On January 19,2023 my air bag light and check engine light came on in my Azera 2012 I took my car to the Hyundai dealership center in Salisbury Maryland they said after doing the diagnostic my car was going to need seat cushion for airbag light and for the door latch and will cost me with having a warranty 3265.00 dollars . There is no recall on the car however the Hyundai Motor Company recalled my make and year as of May 22 2012 for occupant detection system may fail to properly differentiate whether the front passenger seat occupant is an adult or a child or a child restraint seat since my car was manufactured in May 14 of 2012 it does not fit in that recall however, what if my car isn’t recalled they say it could be recalled later my concern is I would like it to be covered under that recall for my car as of May 22, 2012 I feel that my car was not built up in those airbags in the standard that should be since my car was manufactured seven days before the actual recall date I would like Hyundai motor company to take care of all expenses for the the safety, and the fixing of the seat cushion as well as the door latch I feel that there is a safety issue while driving with the light going on and off and the dashboard blinking specially without the passenger side door latch and seat not working right, it wont detect a problem, or possibly the airbag could come out , it has been confirmed by the dealership Pohanka Hyundai Of Salisbury , Maryland, that the components were inspected and they were no insurance or police. Just a code popped up in the car dash in the car dashboard computer. I would ask that you guys would look into this and see that the manufacture independently conducts a safety recall on this and pays all costs of the safety recall and please fix it I can be contacted at 757-894-8324. Again thank you .

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Azera. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made abnormal noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a lifter noise on cold startup. The vehicle was then taken to Dick's Hillsboro Hyundai (2871 SE Tualatin Valley Hwy, Hillsboro, OR 97123) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Dick's Hillsboro Hyundai informed the contact that authorization from the manufacturer was needed before servicing the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the noises coming from the vehicle were normal. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

MDPS coupler failure similar to failure included in warranty extensions for Sonatas/Elantras. Since Azera is not part of the recall, I ended up paying for the repairs. Contacted HyundaiUSA and lodged a complaint (case number - 20194065). I was told that reimbursement will not be given. Hence bringing to your attention to get this resolved. Thanks! Bhuvaneswari
ENGINE Aug 4, 2022
The engine started knocking while I was driving. The car experienced sluggish performance afterwards, and hesitancy in acceleration. Hyundai has recalled other vehicles for engine knocking, but not the Azera.
ENGINE Dec 26, 2021
The engine failed in this vehicle as I was driving down the road. It immediately started knocking violently without warning. I was left stranded with my 4 children and had to pay for towing. The problem still persists upon starting. The vehicle had been inspected numerous times prior to incident due to a ticking noise upon cranking and I was informed by dealer that this is normal. Upon incident there was no warning lights or inclination that this was going to happen. I have since been told by multiple mechanics that the crank rod is faulty in this 3.3L Hyundai engine and that in order to replace it you must buy a refurbished engine with an aftermarket part due to the faulty manufacturer part.
STEERING Dec 16, 2021
The steering on this vehicle started to have some play in it, including some intense vibrating as I drove down the road. My analysis is that the coupler within the steering motor is made of a flimsy material that breaks down relatively easily. This issue has obviously become clear to Hyundai, as they have created an updated version of the coupler. However, the issue is serious enough that there are many people who have shared about it on forums/YouTube/etc., and is a legitimate danger to drivers, as complete failure of the part could result in failed steering while driving.
STEERING May 27, 2021
The steering malfunctioned. When we tried to turn the wheel the it would slip and the car would not respond or suddenly would. It was very scary because the car could not be steered properly. We took it to the dealer who said the Steering Coupler had failed and needed to be replaced. This component has been recalled and/or warranty extended to cover in other Hyundai models for the same reason but it has not yet been recalled in the Azera. We discussed this with Hyundai Customer Service who confirmed. It was repaired by Hyundai of South Brunswick NJ for $452.34. There is a Technical Service Bulletin describing the problem. This is a common, dangerous Azera failure and should be remedied as it has been for other models.

2012 HYUNDAI AZERA, VEHICLE HAS 64,000 MILES. HAS DEVELOPED A CLICKING/CLUNKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING THE STEERING LEFT, RIGHT, AND WHEN HITTING BUMPS. THE ISSUE CAN BE REPLICATED SITTING STILL OR WHEN DRIVING VIA A PROMINENT CLICKING/CLUNKING SOUND. STEERING HAS BECOME SLOPPY AND DANGEROUS. RESEARCH SHOWS IT IS A DEFECTIVE STEERING COUPLER THAT HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF, WHICH IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS ISSUE IS DOCUMENTED BY NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, YET HYUNDAI HAS NOT PROVIDED A RECALL DESPITE IT BEING RECALLED FOR REPLACEMENT ON OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS USING THE SAME COUPLER.

HYUNDAI 2102 AZARA. BASE MODEL. NOTED THAT THE STEERING WAS STARTING TO STICK WHILE MAKING A TURN OR MAKING SMALL CORRECTIONS WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY/ ROADWAY. STEERING NOT SMOOTH BUT ERRATIC. BROUGHT TO DEALER, NAPPLETON HYUNDAI, AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING AN OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE STEERING ECU UNIT. MECHANIC TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE CAR AS THE CONDITION WAS DANGEROUS AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I LEFT CAR AT DEALER WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT ECU UNIT. CAR WAS AT DEALER FOR 8 DAYS AND THEN REPAIRED. REPAIR COST $1100. TTHE CAR HAD 59000 MILES AND WAS OUT OF WARRENTY. CONTACTED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REQUESTED ASSISTANCE WITH GOODWILL EXTENSION OF WARRENTY .HYUNDAI WARRENTY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY GOOD WILL ASSISTANCE. I HAVE READ SIMILIAR PROBLEMS WITH 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA WHERE THE ECU WAS NOT PROPERLY SEALED AND MOISTURE GOT INTO THE ECU CAUSING STREEING FAILURE. HYUNDAI HAD A RECALL ON THOSE MODELS WITH THE ECU UNIT DURING THE SAME TIME ERA.

ON MY 2012 HYUNDAI AZERA THE STEERING COUPLER IS WORN OUT, CLUNKING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE SONATA AND AND TUSCON ARE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PART. THE AZERA SHOULD BE AS WELL!

STEERING Jun 10, 2020
THE FLEXIBLE STEERING COUPLING FAILED IN OUR 2012 AZERA AFTER 67,000 MILES DRIVEN. STEERING WHEEL WOULD MAKE A CLUNKING SOUND AND WOULDN'T BE AS RESPONSIVE AS NORMAL. LEARNED THIS WAS THE SAME EXACT PART THAT ALSO FAILED IN THE HYUNDAI SONATA AND ELANTRA; WHICH HAD RECALLS TO FIX THE ISSUE. DUE TO LOW SALES VOLUME OF THE AZERA, IT IS MY SPECULATION IT DIDN'T REACH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS TO GET ATTENTION. HOWEVER, THE PART AND THE PART FAILURE IS THE SAME. *TR

COUPLER GEAR IN STEERING SYSTEM IS DETERIORATING, CAUSING A GOOD AMOUNT OF PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL AN VIBRATIONS IN STEERING THAT IS VERY SEVERE AT TIMES AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THIS COULD BE SERIOUS AN DANGEROUS SITUATION AT SPEED..THIS IS VERY CONCERNING!!

WHEN STARTING THE CAR YOU HEAR A LOUD CLATTERING NOISE. AND IT DOESN'T GO AWAY. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A OIL CHANGE, OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED. THE NOISE WAS STILL HAPPENING TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEN WAS TOLD I NEEDED A TIMING TENSION BELT. WASTED MY MONEY BECAUSE THE ISSUE STILL WASN'T FIXED. AND NOW WHEN I START MY CAR IT A LOUDER NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE AND WHILING DRIVING MY CAR STALLS REALLY BACK AND WHILE DRIVING I CAN STILL HEAR THE NOISE.
STEERING Jan 16, 2020
STEERING WHEEL HAS CLUNKING NOISE AND STEERING IS LOOSE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, JUST LIKE ALL OF THE OTHERS ON THIS SITE. POWER STEERING COUPLER IS BAD, AS IDENTIFIED BY FIRESTONE AND HYUNDAI DEALER. HYUNDAI WILL NOT REPLACE IT AS IT WAS NOT PART OF THE SONATA AND ELANTRA RECALL FOR THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM.

KNOCKING NOISE WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR THEN SUDDENLY LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. THEN SUDDENLY A ENGINE KNOCKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THEN ENGINE LOCKING UP.

OWNER AND INSPECTION MECHANIC NOTICED AND OBSERVED STEERING WHEEL CLUNKING AND BANGING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SIMILAR MODELS AND USE THE SAME PART THAT IS DEFECTIVE! 2012 HYUNDAI AZERA STEERING COUPLER IS FAULTY AND NEEDED REPLACED PER HYUNDAI DEALER AND WOULD COST US $282.00 PLUS TAX. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE PART WHICH IS AROUND $10.00 BUT WANT A LOT OF MONEY FOR LABOR. THANKFULLY WE HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT WE STILL SHOULD HAVE NOT HAD TO PAY FOR A FAULTY PART. ITS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS THAT USE THE SAME PART. CAR WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE FEELING THE BANGING WHILE DRIVING AND AT A STOP. HAD CAR REPAIRED AND..WOW NO MORE BANGING..VIBRATIONS.
AIR BAGS Nov 3, 2019
I PURCHASED A 2012 HYUANDAI AZERA IN JULY 2012, THE CAR HAS ONLY 30,000 MILES THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND WELL MAINTAINED. TWO WEEK AGO I NOTICED THE DASH WAS SPLITTING AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE AIR BAG IS LOCATED (PASSENGER SIDE). TOOK THE CAR TO ROUTE 60 HYUNDAI, SERVICE MANAGER SAD THEY WOULDN'T COVER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOWEVER IT WOULD COST $2,600.00 TO REPAIR, THE PART IS $1,600.00 LABOR IS $1,000.00. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. THIS DEFECT WAS A PROBLEM IN THE 2008 MODEL OF AZERA, IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE COVERED. WHAT IF THIS AIRBAG DEPLOYS WHILE I'M DRIVING? THERE IS A REASON THIS AREA IS WEAK AND SPLITTING AROUND THE AIRBAG POOR DESIGN OR WORKMANSHIP.....

HAD MY 2012 HYUNDAI AZERA IN FOR PA STATE INSPECTION AN WAS ADVISED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER WAS GOING BAD I HAVE AROUND 35000 MILES ON THIS CAR. HYUNDAI HAS A RECALL ON OTHER MODEL CARS OF THIS YEAR BUT NOT THE AZERA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM STEERING PART
STEERING Sep 14, 2019
CLINKING AND CLANKING NOISE IN THE STEERING. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED BY OTHERS. SONATA AND ELANTRA HAD A RECALL TO REPLACE THE PART BUT IT WAS NOT RECALLED FOR AZERA. PROBABLY BECAUSE NOT AS MANY AZERA'S HAVE BEEN SOLD; BUT UNFAIR THAT WE ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND HYUNDAI WILL NOT FIX IT. THE NOISE HAPPENS WHEN MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL, WHEN A BUMP IS HIT WHILE DRIVING. SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO HAPPENS AT DETAIN SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING.
STEERING Aug 23, 2019
STEERING HAS DEVELOPED DELAY BEFORE ENGAGING TURNING MECHANISM. HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE SAME STEERING PROBLEM FOR CERTAIN ELANTRAS AND SONATAS. THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE REMAINS FOR THE 2012 AZERA. IT IS MY OPINION THAT HYUNDAI SHOULD RECALL AND REPAIR AZERAS AS WELL.
STEERING Aug 16, 2019
THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A LOUD "THUNK" WHEN TURNED SIDE TO SIDE, AT A STOP. SEEMS LOOSE ??
STEERING Jul 3, 2019
THERE IS 'SLOP' OR 'PLAY' DEVELOPING IN THE STEERING. YOU CAN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT IT ENGAGING THE STEERING. WHILE DRIVING, YOU MUST MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL FARTHER TO CHANGE DIRECTION. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN COUPLER BY AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. OTHER HYUNDAI'S HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART BUT NOT THE AZERA AND THEY ARE THE SAME PART DOING THE SAME FUNCTION AND FAILING THE SAME WAY. HYUNDAI SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO COVER ALL THEIR MODELS WITH THIS SAME PART. IT CAN BE FELT FAILING WHILE SITTING STILL AND MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL AND IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY.
STEERING Jun 27, 2019
THE STEERING WHEEL "CLANKS" WHEN MOVING SIDE TO SIDE WHILE SETTING STILL. UPON RESEARCH, AND TALKING TO THE SERVICE DEPT. AT MY HYUNDAI DEALER, IT'S THE "STEERING COUPLER". I WAS TOLD THAT THE OTHER HYUNDAI MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WERE UNDER A "RECALL", BUT NOT THE AZERAS??
