Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Acura TSX, 2011-2014 TSX Sport Wagon, 2010-2013 ZDX, 2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic and Civic Hybrid, 2008-2010 Civic GX NGV, 2012-2015 Crosstour, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2013 Fit, 2014 Fit EV, 2010-2014 Insight, and 2009-2015 Pilot vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with passenger frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are F5F and Q5E.

THIS ISN'T SIMPLY A WARRANTY ISSUE. THIS IS IN EFFECT A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION IN AN EMERGENCY. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A SB-10051509-6014 ISSUED FOR MY SPECIFIC MODEL, WHICH IN EFFECT EXTENDED THE WARRANTY AND MY VIN FELL UNDER THE SPECIFIED CRITERIA, IT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO A SALVAGE BRANDED TITLE (A FACT I DIDN'T NOT NOTICE UNTIL AFTER I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A PRIVATE PARTY). THIS ISN'T SIMPLY A WARRANTY ISSUE. THIS IS IN EFFECT A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION IN AN EMERGENCY. HI WE BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 YEARS AGO AND WE TOOK IT FOR INSPECTION MAYBE 10 MONTHS AGO. THE CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY FOR A WHILE UNTIL THE GASOLINE ENGINE STARTS TO TO TAKE EFFECT AND GETTING UP TO SPEED, VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. AT OTHER TIMES THE IMS INDICATOR IS ERRATIC ON THE DASH BUT THE SYSTEM IS OKAY. THE LIGHTS WILL BE FULL UP AND SUDDENLY DROP TO NOTHING AND A FEW MINUTES LATER IT'S FULL AGAIN. I HAD JOE MORGAN HONDA CHECK IT OUT AND THEY EVEN ROAD TESTED IT WITH INSTRUMENTS ATTACHED AND IT CHECKED OUT OKAY (QUOTE FROM TYLER THE SERVICE REP. OF JOE MORGAN - 10-13-2015). ALL EXPERIENCES WERE ON FLAT GROUND DRY PAVEMENT AND GOOD CONDITIONS. THERE WERE CONDITIONS WHEN I EXPERIENCED THE SLOW ACCELERATION ON A GRADE (SMALL LIKE 5-15% MAYBE) AND THE RESULTS WERE EVEN WORSE.

I CAN ONLY FIND ONE SERVICE BULLETIN THAT MIGHT APPLY, SB-01-005, BUT I CANNOT TELL BY THE BULLETIN TITLE. DEALER COST TO REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1,040.

SECOND TIME, A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY CAR SIMPLY WOULDN'T BUDGE ON THE STEEP HILL I DRIVE UP EVERY DAY AFTER A CAR CAME TO A FULL STOP IN FRONT OF US, MY HONDA COULD BARELY GET UP THE HILL, THEN WOULDN'T ACCELERATE NORMALLY ON THE FLAT BLOCK TO MY HOUSE, WHEN I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO HONDA NEXT DAY, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. AFTER THE FIRST MEMORIAL DAY BRIDGE INCIDENT THEY SAID MY CAR NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE, WHICH THEY SAID THEY PROVIDED, AND THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE NOW. MY SON STARTED TO TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT, ACCELERATING NORMALLY. CAR RESPONDED BY ACCELERATING MASSIVELY --THE RPMS SHOT UP TO THE MAX (7) AND HE HEARD IT STUTTER AGAINST THE TOP OF THE DIAL.
