Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2003-2006 Acura MDX, 2005-2012 RL, 2003-2007 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2006 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007-2008 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with passenger frontal air bag inflators assembled as a recall remedy part or replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator, free of charge. The recall began August 12, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are E5D and X5C.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling specific 2003 Acura 3.2CL, 2013-2016 ILX, 2013-2014 ILX Hybrid, 2003-2006 MDX, 2007-2016 RDX, 2002-2003 3.2TL, 2004-2006, and 2009-2014 TL, 2010-2013 ZDX and 2001-2007 and 2009 Honda Accord, 2001-2005 Civic, 2003-2005 Civic Hybrid, 2001-2005 Civic GX NGV, 2002-2007 and 2010-2011 CR-V, 2003-2011 Element, 2007 Fit, 2002-2004 Odyssey, 2003-2008 Pilot, and 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles. The affected vehicles received a replacement driver air bag inflator as part of a previous Takata inflator recall remedy or a replacement driver air bag module containing the same inflator type as a service part. Due to a manufacturing error, in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver frontal air bag, these inflators may explode.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall began April 10, 2019. The affected vehicles have a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are JU4, JU5, JU6, and JU7. Note: Vehicles that have already received a replacement passenger air bag inflator as part of the recall remedy for an earlier campaign such as 14V353 or 14V700 (Honda recall numbers S95, JH6, JH7, JH8, JH9, JJ0, JJ1, JJ2, JJ6, JM5 and JM6) are not included in this recall. However, this recall does supersede 13V132 and 14V349. Note: On December 18, 2015 Honda informed NHTSA of an expansion of this recall to include certain model year 2004 Honda CR-V vehicles in addition to additional model year 2003 CR-V vehicles.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion and other factors, including manufacturing variability that, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 1, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238, select option 4. Note: Vehicles that have had their driver frontal air bag replaced previously as part of a recall remedy prior to September 12, 2014 need to have their air bag replaced under this recall as well. Vehicles that, on or after September 12, 2014, received a remedy for a prior driver frontal air bag inflator recall already received an inflator of a different design, and therefore are not included in this recall and do not require additional servicing. Specifically, vehicles sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa are addressed by this recall. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began January 26, 2015. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR, THE CVT TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO "LAG" OR DELY TO ENGAGE AND ACCELERATE. RECENTLY WHEN AT A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION, I APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR AND CAR JUDDERED, WAS VIBRATING THE WHOLE CAR, AND ALMOST GOT ME T-BONED. I KNOW THIS IS NOT A SPORTS CAR BUT WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE CONFIDENTLY TO WORK WITHOUT THE WORRY OF GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT. EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE NOW, THE RPM'S RAISE TO 1,500-2,000 RPM BEFORE THE CVT STARTER CLUTCH ENGAGES AND JERKS THE CAR FORWARD. THERE IS ALSO A WHINE COMING FROM THE CVT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 62,000 MILES CURRENTLY WHICH IS NOT A LOT. I JUST HAD HIGHER STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS FROM SUCH A REPUTABLE CAR MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V320000 (AIR BAGS), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER FRACTURED THE FIFTH VERTEBRAE IN HIS NECK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS HOME. THE DAMAGE OF THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED ITS VALUE, SO THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED DESTROYED. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. HELLO, WE HAVE THIS HONDA CIVIC 2004 HYBRID WITH CVT TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS AROUND 68K. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS TYPE OF ISSUES BUT HONDA SAYS THERE THEY ARE NOT LONGER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. THE REPAIR NOW COST MORE THAN THE VEHICLE. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN HELP ME WITH ABOUT THIS ISSUE?

A RECALL FOR THE MAIN AIRBAGS HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE. FORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT THE TIME, OR THEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN INJURED.

WELL TOYOTA GUARANTEES THEIR BATTERIES FOR 150,000 MILES. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY PACKS THREE TIMES IN 130,000 MILES.

IN 2004 I PURCHASED A 2004 CIVIC HYBRID. IN 2011 THE IMF BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW 4 YEARS LATER THE BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAR IS LIKE NEW BECAUSE I TOOK SUCH GOOD CARE OF IT. IT HAS UNDER 70,000 MILES ON IT. HONDA HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 11 YEARS FOR THAT BATTERY. SINCE THIS CAR IS A 2004 HONDA WILL DO NOTHING TO HELP WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE 4 YEAR OLD BATTERY. THEY HAVE QUOTED A PRICE OF $2800 TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WHICH IS ABOUT THE BOOK VALUE OF THE CAR. MY CAR HAS BEEN SUPPORTING A YOUNG WOMAN, WHO IS PREGNANT AND WAS USING MY CAR TO GO TO WORK SO SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FOR HERSELF AND HER CHILD. ON HER 21ST BIRTHDAY I GAVE HER THE CAR. WITHIN DAYS THE IMF LIGHT CAME ON AND TODAY THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. NOW SHE IS WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION TO GET TO WORK AND EARN MONEY TO SUPPORT HERSELF AND HER SOON TO BE BORN BABY. I GAVE HER THE CAR BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A DEPENDABLE, WELL CARED FOR, MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.

I COULD NOT SEE THE SEMI TRUCK TURNING IF FRONT OF ME BECAUSE MY VIEW WAS HIDDEN BY ANOTHER SEMI TRUCK AND MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAD THE AIR BAGS RECALL SERVICE ABOUT A YEAR AGO BECAUSE OF THE TAKATA RECALL.

THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED, HONDA REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY AFTER THE DEALER REPLACE THE SEATBELT ASSEMBLY. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND HONDA ISSUED NOTICE TO DEALERS SAYING THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HONOR HONDA'S LIFETIME SEATBELT WARRANTY. ON 12/11/14, APPROXIMATELY 11:00 A.M., I STARTED MY 2004 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID AND ALLOWED IT TO WARM UP FOR A COUPLE MINUTES DUE TO COLD WEATHER (APPROXIMATELY 25 DEGREES F). I THEN DROVE THROUGH THE PARKING LOT, STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN, TURNED RIGHT, ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE ACCELERATION DID NOT FEEL NORMAL SO I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AT ABOUT 20 TO 25 MILES PER HOUR HOWEVER THE ACCELERATOR STAYED IN PLACE AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. I HELD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO TRY TO REDUCE SPEED HOWEVER THE ACCELERATOR CONTINUED TO STICK. I BRIEFLY TRIED PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND SHAKING IT WITH MY FOOT TO RELEASE IT HOWEVER IT CONTINUED TO STICK AND WAS NOT HELPING AT ALL. THE CAR WAS GAINING TOO MUCH SPEED SO I WENT BACK TO HOLDING THE BRAKE. I HELD THE BRAKE WHILE REACHING MY PHONE TO CALL 911 AND PLANNED TO REPORT THE SITUATION, NOTIFY THEM I WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL OR PARK, AND THAT THERE WAS AN INFANT IN THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, IT HAD BEEN OCCURRING FOR A LITTLE OVER A MILE AND AS I WAS UNLOCKING MY PHONE, THE ACCELERATOR FINALLY RELEASED. IT SLIGHTLY STUCK A LITTLE MORE OFF AND ON BRIEFLY BUT DID FINALLY FULLY RELEASE AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR. I TURNED OFF THE HIGHWAY, AND AS I WAS PREPARING TO PULL OVER AT A SAFE LOCATION, THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AGAIN. AGAIN, I HELD THE BRAKE AND AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, THE ACCELERATOR RELEASED AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. EVERY TIME I START MY HONDA CIVIC HYBRID FROM 2004 IT SHUDDERS. I HAVE SPENT MORE THEN THE VALUE OF THE CAR ON REPAIRS AND FLUID REPLACEMENTS WHICH HONDA DOES NOT DEEM NECESSARY TO PAY FOR. THIS CAR IS A DANGEROUS LEMON. IT SOMETIMES SHUDDERS GOING ONTO HIGHWAYS AND CAN EVEN JUST STOP BEFORE STARTING UP AGAIN. I HAVE HAD NEAR ACCIDENTS DOZENS OF TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY CAR. HONDA MADE A BAD CAR AND EVEN THOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT IT THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. EACH TIME THEY ISSUE A WARRANTY BONUS TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE WHOLE THING EITHER GETS WORSE OR SLIGHTLY BETTER FOR 1000 MILES. I HAVE CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID ON REGULAR INTERVALS WITH HONDA CVT OEM TRANSMISSION FLUID. ALSO MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE IS CONSTANTLY ON. THIS HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
