POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: ELECTRIC LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS. IF THE TRANSAXLE ATTACHING BOLTS BEGIN TO LOOSEN, THE DRIVER COULD NOTICE A JERKING MOTION AND/OR A CLUNKING SOUND. IF NOT SERVICED PROMPTLY, ALL NINE BOLTS COULD ULTIMATELY FALL OUT OR FRACTURE AND THE TRANSAXLE COULD DROP. IF THE TRANSAXLE DROPS, THE VEHICLE MAY NO LONGER BE IN THE GEAR INDICATED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MOUNTING BOLTS WITH LONGER BOLTS THAT INCLUDE A THREAD LOCK MATERIAL. WHEN INSTALLED, THE NEW BOLTS WILL BE TIGHTENED TO A HIGHER TORQUE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 8, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

UNABLE TO PASS VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO CRACKED FRAME BY MEANS OF RUST DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FRONT SECTION OF THE T-FRAME. THE TRUCK WAS BOUGHT IN 2003 AND HAD A CLEAN CAR FAX REPORT BUT WHEN INSPECTED I WAS INFORMED BY THE INSPECTOR THAT THE RANGER FRAME HAD BEEN WELDED ON PRIOR DUE TO RUST DAMAGE. IN 2005 I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR SHACKLES AND LEAF SPRINGS DUE TO THE SAME RUST DAMAGE. I FEEL THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE DUE TO IMPROPER MATERIALS USED IN IT'S CONSTRUCTION CAUSING A HIGH PROBABILITY OF FAILURE AND RISK OF INJURY AND OR DEATH TO MYSELF OR OTHERS AND THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY MUST CORRECT OR REFUND AND THAT THE DEALER SHOULD ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT INFORMING ME OF THIS DEFECT. *TR

MY FORD RANGER 4. LITRE, V SIX IS SPEWING ANTI-FREEZE FROM A BLOWN HEAD..THE COOLING SYSTEM FAILED, WATER PUMP MALFUNCTION. THE 2000 YR VEHICLE HAS HAD RECALL PROBLEMS WITH THE WATER PUMP PER NHTSA (ALONG WITH SIX OTHER RECALL PROBLEMS!) FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER HAS TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD PROBLEMS OF MY NATURE....I NOW AM FORCED TO PAY $950. TO $1200 TO HAVE MY MINT CONDITION FORD 4X4 EXT. DT: CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT CONTINENTAL GENERAL GABBER TIRES, P22570R15. THERE WAS COMPLETE TIRE SEPARATION. A RECALL FOR THE P22560/ R15 TIRES WAS ISSUED, BUT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WIDER TO INCLUDE THIS ONE TOO. CONTINENTAL TIRES WANTED CONSUMER TO SEND THEM THE TREAD, AND TO SETTLE FOR $500.00. BUT CONSUMER FELT THEY SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR EVERYTHING. *AK
