2021 ford f150 PowerBoost hybrid. There is a LOT of internet chatter and forum chatter about KNOWN issues with the following, and it recently almost led to a major and likely serious injury accident. Specific Parameters: Low speed (~5 mph) slow roll Under internal combustion power, not battery In
... 2nd gear only When gas pedal is pressed vehicle does nothing. Does not respond. Two choices are to hammer the gas, or hit the breaks. Does two things, slams forward eventually after 3-4 second delay if gas pedal depressed OR shifts down or into electric mode (internal combustion off) and then will once again go from first to third in normal acceleration progression and pace They must have an issue with the standard 1-3 skip programming with ICE power and 2nd gear being a hang-up I almost got T boned by a semi truck due to this with family in car. This could have been deadly. It happens as an annoyance at least once per day but this one was scary. Online, and based on what I can find - Ford is aware of this issue as they have the 1-3-5 programming in the transmission but when it finds itself (due to real world driving conditions) in 2nd gear under Internal combustion, it does not know what to do. I brought it to Ford last year in Anchorage and they are attempting to blame it on normal hybrid system operation. That is NOT the case. It would be something that could be duplicated but with effort. A basic, simple test drive is NOT going to find this. They are aware of this being an issue. If you have any situation where you are rolling through, merging into traffic, or other scenario where you end up in 2 under ICE you are in TROUBLE. Dangerous, scary, and totally a manufacturer issue that is known and needs to be taken VERY seriously.Read more

My Ford F150 was traveling on I95 North in Maryland when an emergency notice on the dashboard told be to pull over. The truck would not restart and had to be towed to a Ford dealer. I have since been told a controller module caught fire and damaged the hybrid battery and both would need to be replac

Ford claims that my VIN was not included in the recall even though I experienced exactly what the recall was suppose to prevent. My wife and I could have been killed while traveling on the highway at 70 MPH and the vehicle was on fire without our knowledge.Read more

On numerous occasions, with increasing frequency, the truck has suddenly not responded to pressing the throttle pedal. I have not figured out the exact situation that makes it happen. From the best of my knowledge I am not sure exactly what induces the issue. I have noticed it several times where th
... e truck goes from a mid range RPM (consistent with normal driving conditions) then after the brake or natural deceleration occurs and you go to reengage the throttle pedal the truck does not respond. There is a very extended delay to any speed increases. This has been extremely dangerous when making left turns through traffic as the truck does not respond and leaves you in harms way. It has been happening several times a week now and I have read numerous reports of the same thing on forums. I see no warning lights or pop ups that can support a large issue.Read more

I purchased my truck in March of 2024 with an undisclosed problem from a dealership in Texas. I contacted them two weeks after it began and they said they couldn't do anything as is the greatest business disappointment of American commerce when used vehicles are purchased under the "As Is" clause. T
... he undisclosed problem is this, my truck loses acceleration power for up to 20 seconds in dangerous situations when I attempt to increase speed from a stop or slower speeds and the truck doesn't shift to accelerate to reasonable speeds. This situation happens each time I drive this truck. The scarier situations happen when changing lanes, turning left, or right, or making U-turns. Each of these conditions threatens safety every time this happens, but more so when there is fast-moving traffic coming behind after changing lanes or if on-coming traffic approaches my now power-less truck when making a left/u-turn. My local dealership shop found the CBF drum in the transmission to be faulty causing internal leaks which fail to engage the gearing system. The repair cost to make my truck safe again is over $7.2k. If this truly is a safety failure problem, I request NHTSA for payment to my dealer or reimbursement, please.Read more

Many times I have experienced a delay in acceleration or where it fails to accelerate relative to the pedal position and will then suddenly aggressively accelerate. This has resulted in me almost being hit in traffic due to the lack of power output leaving me panicked as vehicles barrel down on me w
... hile I’m stuck waiting for the truck to get the signal to accelerate. The issue has begun to occur more often but is spontaneous when it occurs leaving me with huge trust issues with the vehicle not knowing when it will decide if it wants to output power or not. It occurs most often after the vehicle has been sitting unused, like first thing in the morning or after work when it has been sitting for hours, and most often when executing a turn from either a slow roll or a stop. Meaning if I’m on a side street and wish to pull out into traffic, it will just decide not to accelerate and leave me sitting in the road as vehicles approach scaring me into pumping the throttle or attempting to push it to the floor in the hopes it gets the signal and will accelerate to get me out of harms way. It’s a huge issue and I’m worried it will result in an accident. I’ve also seen many other are experiencing the problem. I have an appointment with my local ford dealership to have it looked at but I’m worried they won’t be able to replicate the issue and will leave me with no answers or help.Read more

I had to spend $100 to have my truck towed to Young Ford in Ogden, Utah which is the closest dealership to my home. They had my truck there for two days and then called me and let me know my truck was ready to be picked up. They told me the problem was a software update and once they had completed the update, everything was working fine. They then charged me approximately $360 for the update. So essentially, I just spent $460 for a software update on my truck that is set to automatically download and install updates several times each week. The technician at the dealership checked my vehicle history and verified that I was up to date with all available updates. In just under two years of ownership, I have now had to take it to the dealership twice for software updates, and even more times for multiple recalls. This latest issue is infuriating because a simple software upgrade cost me two days of use, towing charges, and $360 to diagnose and download the update. Why does a software update completely disable a vehicle, and why is it not Ford’s responsibility? What if this happened during driving on the freeway? I should not have to take it to the dealership to be updated so that the vehicle will operate. In my mind this is no different than a recall. If a car becomes inoperable because of a problem from the dealer than the dealer should be financially responsible and not pass those costs to the consumer!Read more

After a right turn in a residential street, I pressed the accelerator to progress on the roadway. The truck did not accelerate, so I looked at the tachometer and observed it above 0 and below 1,000 rpm. The engine was running, but unresponsive despite pumping the accelerator. While rolling at 5
... mph I shifted the transmission to neutral and continued pumping the accelerator. There was no response for the next 200'. Finally, the engine became responsive and ran normally. It runs normally now. I cannot reproduce this issue. I called the Ford dealer service on 8 November 24 at Noon and they said "watch for the issue". I expressed that in traffic, a suddenly undependable engine is a serious concern. The accelerator/engine was unresponsive for a continued period of time. The gas engine was in control. There was no check light/warning light. The Ford dealer inspected the telemetry of the vehicle remotely and no anamolies were observed. The dealer declined to inspect the vehicle since the issue is not reproducible.Read more

When gearshift lever is in "DRIVE," it would not shift into "REVERSE" or "PARK." There were no warning lights. Gearshift lever would always move from "PARK" to "DRIVE" or "PARK" to "REVERSE." I was in traffic, I was unable to move the gearshift from "DRIVE" to "REVERSE" when I needed to backup.
... The only way to get the gearshift lever to move was to TURN OFF the vehicle while it was in "DRIVE" and on a 2021 F150, the gearshift lever will automatically move into "PARK." Then I was able to restart the vehicle and move the gearshift lever into "REVERSE." From "REVERSE" the gearshift lever would move into the "DRIVE" position. This failure resulted in my inability to control my vehicle when required. The dealership replaced a GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY to resolve the problem.Read more

1) Vehicle acceleration delays. From a stopped vehicle condition transitioning onto highway roadway the vehicle failed to accelerate for several seconds. Again from stopped or low speed idling condition following a turn there occurs a 1 to 10 second failure to accelerate. 2) Failure to accelerate
... puts into question the safety of anyone in any vehicle within proximity to the malfunctioning vehicle. 3) Our personal vehicle problems has not been observed by any dealer, we have not presented it for diagnosis at this time. We are actively monitoring and posting to the [XXX] group about our experience. A ford dealership employee has an advanced Ford factory representative working on understanding the problem. Otherwise, it seems, no one currently understands the issue as yet. 4) Our personal vehicle has NOT been inspected by the Manufacturer, police, insurance reps or others at this point in time. 5) There has never been a warning lamp or message in regard to this acceleration failure. The failure is not predictable in nature. We have never experience such failure at highway traffic speeds. It most often presents when accelerating from an idle or low speed driving condition, often following a turn.
