DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 DIAVEL MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 18, 2010, THROUGH JUNE 13, 2011. THE SIDE STAND WAS MANUFACTURED WITH INSUFFICIENT MATERIAL IN THE PIVOT AREA.
Remedy: DUCATI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND AUTHORIZED DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SIDE STAND AND PIVOT BOLT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-231-6696 OR GO TO THEIR WEBSITE AT WWW.DUCATI.COM.

DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 DIAVEL MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM SEPTEMBER 23, 2010, THROUGH MAY 12, 2011. THE BRASS INSERTS INSTALLED IN THE CHAIN GUARD MAY DEFORM OVER TIME, RESULTING IN THE POSSIBLE LOOSENING OF THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER RETAINING SCREWS ON THE REAR SWING-ARM. THIS SITUATION COULD CAUSE THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER TO BECOME LOOSE DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE MOTORCYCLE.
Remedy: DUCATI DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CHAIN GUARD WITH AN UPDATED VERSION, MANUFACTURED WITH STEEL INSERTS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DUCATI AT 1-800-231-6696.

DUCATI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 MULTISTRADA 1200, AND MODEL YEAR 2011, DIAVEL MOTORCYCLES. THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK MAY FAIL TO DISENGAGE DURING THE MOTORCYCLE "KEY-ON" PROCESS. THIS HAS BEEN LINKED DIRECTLY TO A CERTAIN REVISION OF THE HANDS FREE DEVICE SOFTWARE. IT COULD RESULT IN A SITUATION WHERE THE MOTORCYCLE'S ENGINE MIGHT START WHILE THE STEERING LOCK IS STILL ENGAGED. A RIDER COULD START THE MOTORCYCLE AND ATTEMPT TO RIDE AWAY WHILE THE STEERING IS STILL LOCKED.

MY 2011 DIAVEL CONTINUES TO STALL INTERMITTENTLY, ALWAYS WHILE DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH LEVER AS I INTENT TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP (CLOSED THROTTLE). PRESENTLY MY MOTORCYCLE HAS 9562 MILES, IS 9 MONTHS OLD. OVER THIS PERIOD OF TIME THIS PROBLEMS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TO 30 TIMES (2 TO 3 TIMES PER MONTH). I HAVE WRITTEN TO DUCATI CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY REPLY. INTERESTINGLY, THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE, AND WHAT IS MORE ODD IS THAT FOR ME, MOST, IF NOT ALL STALLS HAVE OCCURRED AT NIGHT, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE RUNNING, SO NOT ONLY DOES THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER IS OF CONCERN, BUT THE FACT THAT IT IS ACCOMPANIED BY THE LOSS OF VISIBILITY (LIGHTS) TO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME, AS MY TAIL LIGHTS AND HEAD LIGHTS GO OFF UNTIL I RESTART THE ENGINE. ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT IS THAT I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED A HALF DOZEN NEAR STALLS, WHERE WHILE THE ENGINE DOES NOT STALL, MY HEADLIGHTS MOMENTARILY FLICKER (GO OFF AND THEN BACK ON) WHEN I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH IN ORDER TO DOWN SHIFT. HENCE MY SUSPICION THAT THE PROBLEM MAY ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DUCATI DIAVEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY IN PLACE CAME LOOSE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND A REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY WAS ORDERED. THE DEALER DID NOT SAY WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE BOLTS TO FAIL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK BECAUSE THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY RESTED ON THE TAIL PIPE AND MELTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 400. LIGHTS ASSEMBLY HELD TO BIKE BY WIRES ONLY.
