AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2007-2009 Freightliner and Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled into the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
Remedy: DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side frontal air bag, free of charge. The recall began on September 29, 2017. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. Note: This recall fully supersedes recall 15V-354 and partially supersedes recalls 16V-379 and 17V-025.

Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Remedy: Daimler Vans will notify the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner owners and Fiat Chrysler will notify the Dodge owners. The respective dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2017. Cummings Mobility Conversion & Supply (Cummings) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350, Chevrolet Express, 2006-2008 Dodge Sprinter, and 2009-2014 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and 2013 Ford Transit Connect vehicles manufactured January 1, 2006, to October 8, 2014, equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation after January 1, 2006. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.
Remedy: Cummings will notify owners to take buses to a Ricon dealer or service center who will install supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already started cracking will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began January 13, 2015. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE SCREW BOLTS OF THE FUEL TANK FASTENING STRAPS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED CORRECTLY. AFTER NORMAL PRODUCTION PROCESS, THE VEHICLES ARE DISASSEMBED FOR SHIPMENT TO THE US AND THE BOLTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CORRECTLY TIGHTENED WHEN RE-ASSEMBLED.

The contact owns 2008 Winnebago View RV built on a 2007 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Chassis. The contact stated that the key fob failed to open the doors of the recreational vehicle. The contact stated that he attempted to replace the batteries however, the failure continued. The contact went to an unknown Dodge dealer who informed him that he would need to go to a Mercedes- Benz dealer for a key fob code. The contact stated that he was informed that the codes were located and Mercedes-Benz in Europe; and the USA dealers were unable to get the codes. The contact stated that the key fob needed a software update and code to work. The manufacturer Mercedes-Benz complaint department was contacted and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

NICK WITH SERVICE SAID A BRAKE SWITCH AND THE BATTERY WERE NEEDED AND I AUTHORIZED THAT WORK, AND IT WAS COMPLETED. THEN NICK CONTACTED ME SAYING IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND THAT A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND AN AMBIENT AIR SENSOR REPLACEMENT WERE NOW REQUIRED TO GET THE RV WORKING. THE SHIFTING PROBLEM IS WHY IT WAS ORIGINALLY TOWED IN. I AM FEELING THAT THE FOCUS OF MY CONCERNS WERE UNADDRESSED INITIALLY BY THE SERVICE DEPT. I SPOKE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS NOT EVEN THREE YRS OLD, YET NICK SAID THAT THE BATTERY THEY TOOK OUT WAS NO LONGER THERE, THAT TWO DAYS AFTER IT WAS TAKEN OUT, IT WAS PICKED UP TO BE RECYCLED. WAS THE BATTERY STILL UNDER WARRANTY? WAS THE BRAKE SWITCH REPLACEMENT NECESSARY, SINCE IT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE SHIFTING PROBLEM AFTER THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPLACED IT? FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE TUBE CONNECTED TO THE EGR VALVE SPLIT APART. THE TUBE IS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE CAB AIR INTAKE, SO EXHAUST GASSES ARE PUMPED INTO THE CAB. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THE TUBE BROKE COMPLETELY APART AND THE PRESENCE OF EXHAUST WAS OBVIOUS. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN 85K MILES, I AM CONCERNED THE NEXT TIME IT MIGHT JUST CRACK AND CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 10 AT 65 MPH. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN, THE TUBE RUPTURED BECAUSE THE EGR VALVE STUCK CLOSED, CAUSING PRESSURE TO BUILD UP IN THE TUBE. I HAVE ALL THE PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED AND CAN SHIP THEM TO YOU IF NECESSARY.

RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I DISCOVERED MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. EVIDENTLY THESE HOSES FAIL DUE TO A POOR DESIGN WHERE THE HOSE IS ATTACHED TO IT'S METAL FITTING.
