BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee, 2019-2020 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade and 2019 Dodge Challenger vehicles equipped with 8.4" or 12" radio displays. A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the radio display software, free of charge. Optionally, owners can choose to remotely update their software via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update available as of May 1, 2020. The recall began April 27, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is W30-W37.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Dodge Challenger and Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The instrument cluster may not properly illuminate driver warnings. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."
Remedy: Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. The recall began April 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V32.

The factory-installed Uconnect infotainment system in my 2019 Dodge Challenger intermittently malfunctions by remaining stuck on the rearview camera display after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse and into drive or park. The rearview camera image does not disengage as designed and continues to display randomly during normal forward driving. This appears to be a failure of the Uconnect radio/software system rather than the camera itself. The issue occurs unpredictably and has happened multiple times without warning. Restarting the vehicle is sometimes required to restore normal screen function. This malfunction creates a safety hazard because the display obstructs access to navigation, climate controls, and other critical vehicle information while driving forward, causing driver distraction and reduced situational awareness. Backup cameras are federally mandated safety equipment, and failure of the system to disengage properly interferes with safe vehicle operation. Additionally, I am medically light-sensitive due to chronic migraines. When the rearview camera display remains active unexpectedly, the bright and high-contrast screen significantly worsens my symptoms, increasing pain, visual discomfort, and distraction while driving. This exacerbates the safety risk and makes the malfunction an extreme concern for me during vehicle operation. No warning lights or messages appear prior to or during the malfunction. The problem has not yet been repaired. The vehicle and system remain available for inspection upon request. This failure mode matches known Dodge/Stellantis rearview camera and Uconnect software defects reported on similar model-year vehicles, although my VIN is not currently included in an active recall.

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while reversing, the back-over prevention camera screen displayed a blue screen. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the back-over prevention camera was still enabled. The contact stated that the back-over prevention camera was displayed in real time. In addition, the contact stated that while driving forward, the image froze. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The contact was informed that there were no unrepaired recalls on the VIN. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not provided.

Electrical system is currently failing. I was informed that I need a PDC wiring kit to replace the fuse box and the entire vehicle must be rewired. USB Charging ports DO NOT WORK. Cigarette lighter ports to charge cellular devices do not work. Every time the service department at the dealership fixed a component to repair the radio a fuse was blown in another area of the vehicle in 2024. Currently 2025, I was told that the Radio lost connection with amplifier. The screen of the radio is on. It is changing from station to station and there is no sound. The bluetooth connects to my phone but there is no sound. The display is working for Sirius XM Radio. The amplifier was replaced 2x's although there was nothing wrong with it. The radio was replaced although there was nothing wrong with it. Vehicle consistently lacks power, car drags when you switch lanes and accelerate, headlights were not working and replaced 3 times. I almost flew over a cliff because it was pitch black. I could not see the road in front of me. Door panel control was replaced because windows were stuck rolled down/rolled up. Keypad would not work to unlock the door. I had to climb into the car from the passenger side of the vehicle because the driver's side door was locking me out of the car. Batteries in keypads were replaced. Driver's side door was locking me inside of the car. I was forced to climb over the center console to get out of the car through the passenger side. I had issues with the shocks & struts. The Michelin tires that came with the vehicles are cheap [XXX]. I replaced the tires with all-weather tires and consistently rotated them during oil changes. I owned a 2017 Dodge Challenger which had electrical issues and a defective Uconnect radio system. A few months after purchasing the 2019 Dodge Challenger, I experienced electrical issues. The electric key system failed locking me outside of the vehicle while pumping gas. I had to enter the vehicle from the passenger side door. When I tried to exit the vehicle, I could not open the door. I had to climb over the center console to exit the vehicle from the passenger side. The key fab battery was replaced but the issue continued. The rear/front suspension failed in 2020. The westbury service department blew my alternator servicing while replacing the radiator and fixing the electrical issue with Uconnect. The driver's side window would not roll down. It was stuck down in 2021. The door panel switches were replaced. The door issue was not resolved. I randomly remained locked out of the vehicle. I complained that the heat would turn on randomly inside of the vehicle. My headlights stopped working twice and my light bulbs were replaced although the bulbs were good. I couldn't see the road in front of me at night and almost drove off of a cliff. The radio/gps/bluetooth system continuously failed ten times. The service department replaced the radio. and amplifiers twice, although they were in working condition. This did not resolve the issue. The Jamaica service department explained that the issues that have been occurring are electrical and tried replacing the fuses to fix the reoccurring issues. When I bought the car to them to fix the radio issue in 2024 my charging and USB ports stopped working. The fuse issue has since caused other safety hazards. They replaced the fuses several times and have explained that the entire electrical component "body harness wiring" must be replaced. I should not be responsible for replacing this part. I leased this car there purchased it. Never had any accident or anything in that sort. However my car start to make this metal noise when I am driving which is super loud. I took it to the dealership but they said it's not serious without doing a thorough check up. they said it's just a sound that those type cars make and it replace the metal part it cost about 10k or something like that. I never heard this sound in any type of car. The sound is very loud and I don't feel safe driving my car. Something is off and the metal sound is constant. like 2 pieces of metal rubbing into each other and they're about to break.

In accident airbag did not deploy and both driver and passenger were injured. Driver suffered head injuries and concussion. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Car is totaled out by insurance company. Not sure of answer to this question. Has the vehicle or component inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when they first appeared? No.

The vehicle's Uconnect system (which is required for most all functions including backup camera) will intermittently go black and become unresponsive. Soft and hard resets do not resolve it at first. Hard reset eventually resulted in a generic screen with numerous functions missing. Eventually after several hours the correct screen restored itself. This happens intermittently and there are hundreds of reports of this online (search for Uconnect screen black).

There is a loud popping sound when I start my car. It sounds as if the car is back firing. The sound has been duplicated several times. The sound does not happen every time, but it has happened well over 100 times. I have taken it into the dealership, and they claim that the sound can never be duplicated. Also, when I place my car in reverse and then drive the backup camera screen remains on in after driving forward for more than 30 seconds. This is VERY hazardous because when looking at the screen i can still see what is behind me which is a huge distraction.

Have had several dodge chargers and challengers and oil cooler fails too soon I believe way to expensive to fix so soon in my opinion all it takes is for someone to over torque the oil filter cap during oil changes so many times and I believe starts the problem not including how cheap looking the oil cooler seems currently have a 2019 challenger sxt awd and just noticed oil resting in the valley of the oil cooler here we go again same problem over and over again

I had a flat tire while driving to work and was unable to pull over for about a few thousand feet. As the tire went flat I swirled into the grass on a street without a shoulder. The tire snapped off and was not locatable. I filed a police report and called the police at time of incident. The total damage on the vehicle was under $3,000 but because the tire snapped off and damaged the firewall Dodge stated that the vehicle had to be a total loss. This was a 2019 challenger there should be no reason for a wheel to snap off like such. After visiting several Dodge chat rooms I have learned that this is very common with the challenger and needs to be addressed with a class action suit and safety recall! This happens very often to Dodge challenger consumers

My 2019 Dodge Challenger wheels on the front has been wearing and tearing from the inside causing rubbing on the outside of the wheels. When I drive there is an uneven drive with the wheels wobbly going down the road. I have rotate the tires every oil change. I am afraid that this will cause an accident. There were no signs of the tire pressure lamp was on. I went to the Dodge dealership in Bessemer, Al. At no avail did the mechanic checked the wheels only to say there are no recalls on this model. I instantly had a loss of power steering and braking. The engine just shut off. A check engine light came on and the dash said shift I to park to start. I was successfully able to get across 4 lanes of traffic to stop on the apron between o ram and side of freeway. When I shifted to park and to try to restart it would not start. Had to be towed to dealership where upon inspection they said the motor was locked. When broken down a valve just dropped into the cylinder and jammed into the piston and cylinder wall. Pieces also damaged the head and the supercharger and dealer says starter is fried. Mopar is digging in and acting like this isn’t an issue but online there are several class actions and forums about defective valve system in these engines. Had I been a novice driver or my wife with children jn the car she would likely not been able to get off to a safe place and stalled dead in the fast lane of a very busy Houston roadway.

I was successfully able to get across 4 lanes of traffic to stop on the apron between o ram and side of freeway. When I shifted to park and to try to restart it would not start. Had to be towed to dealership where upon inspection they said the motor was locked. When broken down a valve just dropped into the cylinder and jammed into the piston and cylinder wall. Pieces also damaged the head and the supercharger and dealer says starter is fried. Mopar is digging in and acting like this isn’t an issue but online there are several class actions and forums about defective valve system in these engines. Had I been a novice driver or my wife with children jn the car she would likely not been able to get off to a safe place and stalled dead in the fast lane of a very busy Houston roadway.

I was rear ended while traveling eastbound on US 175 ( C F Hawn Fwy ). When I was hit the impact pushed me alittle ways. The other driver was going pretty fast because I was hit hard enough to where the trunk of the car was pushed into the back seat of the car. After being able to get out of the car. I noticed that the airbags didn't deploy. The seat belt did lock up but the airbags did not come out.

Power steering/rack and pinion. Yes. Power steering cuts in and out around corners and sometimes completely locking steering wheel with no control. When steering wheel locks up it’s you to lose control of car and could cause head on collision. Yes I had dodge dealship diagnose and also independent mechanic. Manufacturer has not inspected. There were no warnings or any warning lights in car. Problem started about 3 months ago.

The power steering or steering rack appears to be defective. While turning on a curve, the steering will get stuck in what feels like a knotch, and can be weird to un-stick from that knotch. Can maybe cause unstable feeling in steering.

Started testing the vehicle and it just wouldn't accelerate fast, it was stall slowly and pickup speed over 30 seconds or so. I brought it in to one shop and they said its probably a software update and to take it to Dodge and it should be free. Dodge told me it's probably not software, kept my car for 5 days and told me it was a software update and that they updated it for free but still charged me $175 for the "diagnosis" when I told them exactly what the issue was. And now that I got it back, it gets stuck in reverse, you have to turn the vehcile off and wait and start it again then it works. At a red light turn yesterday, it wouldn't drive forward and the "D" for drive started flashing.

The contact mentioned that there was an abnormal rubbing sound coming from the tires while turning. The tire was replaced however, a few months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front passenger’s side tire needed to be replaced from also being worn. The tire was replaced but a few weeks later the failure recurred. The failure recurred multiple times and only the front tires were replaced after each failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

I bought this certified pre-owned vehicle from a local FCA/Dodge dealer on 10/09/2021. The vehicle began exhibiting erratic and dangerous steering behavior, so I brought it to the dealer on 10/26/2021.The dealer was able to reproduce the erratic behavior. They replaced the electronic power steering gear, the rack and pinion gear, inspected the entire vehicle and did not find anything else wrong, see attached service order. However, the steering continues to be erratic and the vehicle cannot be safely controlled. I notified the dealer of the continuing issues, but they said the could not do anything else to remedy the problem.
