The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to shift into park. The gear shifter was shifted back and forth for approximately 20 to 30 minutes before eventually shifting into park(P) as intended. The shift to park(P) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
"Shift to Park" alarm continues to appear when the car is in park. At times it does not clear for 10 minutes or so. On a couple of occasions I could not get it to go away for 30 minutes. This is an issue that drains the battery and have caused me to remain in the car to start and restart the vehicle until it is no longer present. Which damages the starter.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the Auto START/STOP system failed to turn off as intended. The contact stated that the engine was running. The message "STAND/PARK" was displayed on the instrument panel, and the warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed. The contact was unaware of the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
Recall number N192211320 ( Left Front Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Not Seated ) Chevrolet is refusing to fix this issue, saying that it's not a safety recall. This issue can effect the steering control and its very evident thats its a safety issue. They're saying this recall expires with the base warranty. This is a clear attempt to circumvent the law, by not classifying this as a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated, jerked, and failed to respond on some occasions, requiring the vehicle to be turned off and restarted. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked significantly and almost stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(R). The vehicle was taken to O'Reilly’s Auto Parts; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was informed that the diagnostic test confirmed that the vehicle was in drive(D), even though the gear shifter was in reverse(R). The dealer was notified of the failure and recommended a diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to Kenny Wilson Transmission, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the transmission throttle had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.
When putting the vehicle in park the “shift to park” indicator comes on the dash. The vehicle has already been placed in park and will not move. This has happened multiple times over the last 3-4 years.
Complete transmission failure while driving approximately 60 MPH. Transmission started shifting irregularly while driving at a steady speed on a 55 MPH paved county road and locked into 3rd gear slowing me down quite suddenly. I turned on my emergency flashers and pulled into a parking lot. If traffic had been heavy I could easily have been hit from behind for unexpected deceleration with no brakes applied and no brake lights to warn a following vehicle. There were no dash warning on even after stopping. The vehicle has 111,000 miles on it and has been used to tow loads rarely, and the loads were far below the 5000 lb rating of the vehicle. Because it is well past the 75,000 mile power-train warranty (I bought it used) I am having to pay nearly $9,000 for a remanufactured transmission replacement at my local dealership. This is a major financial burden to me for a repair something that should last well beyond 200,000 miles as transmission typically do. I have owned several vehicles that have.
When placing the vehicle in park, whether it’s on a flat surface or an incline, the SHIFT TO PARK notification displays. In addition, the nonfiction chime rings consistently until the gear shift is realigned or until it stops on its own. During this ringing period the headlights won’t go off and the ringing last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. The longest time recorded was 20 minutes. Once the ringing finalizes, there is still a possibility that the start/stop button has to be pressed manually so the headlights will completely turn off.
MY CAR WAS ACTING LIKE IT HAD BAD GAS. I TOOK TO T HE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD IT FOR DAYS AND SAID TRANSMISSION. I AM AT 45,000 MILES ON THIS CAR. IS MINE COVERED TO BE FIXED?
. That’s not even an effect. I need someone to contact me. My email is [XXX] . My phone number is [XXX] . I would like to put in a claim. There is no way that this transmission should have went out on me now I can’t afford to pay for It. I need your help please thank you [XXX] . I had to replace my 2019 traverse transmission around 105,000 miles but had a shuddering when slowly accelerating or driving since around 70,000 miles. Possibly a programming issue with the transmission control module?? Because after replacing transmission the shuddering still happened and I had to reprogram the transmission control module again and then the shuddering is 95% gone. Also , shift to park alert is a big issue too. If you put the car in park sometimes you have to maneuver the shift knob and tap it to make the “park to shift” go away so I can lock my car.

To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this letter as a **formal safety complaint** regarding repeated transmission failure in my **2019 Chevrolet Traverse**, which poses a potential risk to vehicle safety. In **December 2024**, while the vehicle was still covered under General Motors’ factory powertrain warranty, an authorized GM dealership diagnosed a serious transmission defect. Due to parts being on national backorder, the repair was delayed. When the repair was eventually performed, only partial components (torque converter and valve body) were replaced rather than the full transmission. Despite this repair, the transmission **failed again less than one year later**. In **November 2025**, a second authorized GM dealership confirmed that the transmission now requires **full replacement** and that the prior repair did not correct the underlying defect. The transmission failure has resulted in **slipping, hesitation, and loss of proper power delivery**, which creates a **potential safety hazard**, particularly during acceleration, merging, and highway driving. A loss of propulsion or delayed response in traffic significantly increases the risk of an accident. This issue was identified while the vehicle was under warranty and was not properly resolved. The repeat failure suggests a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear. General Motors has declined further assistance. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as part of its monitoring of potential **powertrain defects** affecting vehicle safety. I noticed that there was oil on the bottom of the transmission. I took it to a mechanic and he said that it was the rear crankshaft oil seal. He replaced it and a month later, it seems to be doing it again. I have instances where it will be in drive and I will hit the gas but it doesn't go anywhere.
Timing cover / valve covers...had to drop the engine...5K for 100,000 miles. Other 2019 Traverse have had issues for recall but not my VIN. If some VIN numbers have been recalled, then all VIN numbers with the same issue should be covered
I purchased a 2019 Chevy Traverse brand new off the lot as single owner and kept up with maintenance. The transmission just went out while I was on the highway and abruptly begin reducing speed and I was unable to accelerate. This was dangerous as no warning lights came on prior to this happening to warn that there were any engine issues. This could have caused an accident on the highway due to me not having control to accelerate and vehicle de-accelerated without warning. Also the passenger seat belt stop working and would not click. There was a Shift to Park warning that kept coming up on the car about 1.5 years ago that should be a recall as the car would not go off when turned off. The radio and lights in the vehicle would continue to run while the engine was off. I am concerned about all of the issue with this car that makes me question the quality and build of this vehicle. The first 4 years this vehicle was great and then all of a sudden it begin to breakdown in parts. The dealership confirmed all of these things and I asked if warranties were on these items and it was not.

Transmission went out does not move at all with only 49,000 miles on the car the car always had sifting problems. Brought the car brand new off the lot. One owner. Before the Transmission went out when I will stop at the red lights or stop signs the car would just take off for no reason. With my foot still on the brakes or the car would just stall when I am driving it right in the middle of traffic. GMC needs to held accountable before some one gets killed.😤😡🤬

After fueling car the starting continue turning over after you release button. Now while drivering it hesitate sometime loose power steering. And when stopped and the car dies when it does it’s stop /start now there a delay in continuing on and now brake light come on when it start back. Sometimes lose power and if you disconnect cable to let car reset light goes off until the start/stop and repeats process with park light back on ect.

Shift to park notice. For several months the shifter has had issues going into park. The shifter is in the park position but isnt reading. I know a few other people with similar Traverse models in my area having the same issue. Im also aware that some models of GM SUV have already recalled this part. After having to wait over 5 minutes multiple times for the car to recognize that its in the park position I decided to get this replaced. This is an issue I believe a recall should be noticed and I should be reimbursed for the parts and labor of this

Shift to park error, car will not go into park. A well known GM issue that apparently has yet to be recalled.

When I shift the car to park and press button to turn car off, I am alerted "Shift to Park". The shift lever or gear control is not recognizing that I have already put the car in park. I have to repeatedly push on the gear shifter until the alert clears and the car engages in park. This issue happens quite often and is an inconvenience.
Continue to get a shift to park error when car is in park, not allowing me to turn off and creating an unsafe situation.

I was in an accident in my 2019 Chevy Traverse on September 4, 2025. Upon impact, my airbags did not deploy. I was pulling out from and intersection and a car with no lights on was coming from the right of me going towards the left of me. I ended up hitting his car on the driver' side and rear door. His side airbags went off. I was wearing my seatbelt. My body was thrown forward and hit the steering wheel. The airbag did not go off upon impact. I have a broken sternum, bruised ribs and bruises across my left shoulder due to the seatbelt. I ended up in the hospital overnight for observation. They were worried about my heart and lungs since they were jarred forward when I hit the steering wheel. Now my insurance company wants to total my car. They also want me to get a different title (salvage title) if I have the car fixed, which in turn with make it hard for me to sell it and keep insurance on it. I want to know what will be done about this. If I get the car fixed, will it happen again? Looking for answers. I feel that I would have been just fine if my airbag had went off. Now I am looking at 6-8 weeks of painful recovery.
