General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet SS and Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicles (PPV) that were previously repaired under NHTSA recall number 16V-518. The repair may not have been performed properly. The driver's seat belt tensioner cable may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to determine whether the new seat trim was installed and replace the trim as necessary. Dealers will also inspect and replace the pretensioner cable assembly, as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2020. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit vehicles manufactured May 14, 2013 through June 14, 2016, and Chevrolet SS vehicles manufactured May 15, 2013 through April 27, 2016. The driver's seat belt tensioner cable may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tensioner cable assembly, replacing any cable that is damaged. For vehicles that do not require a tensioner assembly replacement, a cable guide will be installed. All vehicles will receive new seat trim with a redesigned opening for the cable routing. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on November 3, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 31340.

A few days ago I was heading home from work and sport mode automatically turned on and the “service power steering” warning came on. Then the steering wheel stiffened up 2 times for a few seconds while I was driving. I looked into it and there was a recall before I purchased the vehicle and it was repaired also. But it is the same problem. I contacted the dealer ship but they said there’s no warranty on recalls. I did purchase the car from a used car dealership and still paying it. Car still isn’t running and seems like an expensive repair.

Collapsed lifter on cyl 6. Lifter tick / knock since 100,200 miles. Car has a warranty until 5/2026 or 171,000 miles and they refuse to honor it. Car has a steering issue. Two separate chevy dealerships unable to fix. vanderevere charged me 500-600 to fix NOTHING AT ALL. serpentini chevy charge me 500-600 and it was repaired for a few months problem is back. Serpentini quoted me 6,000 plus tax to fix my collasped lifter, and at that price its a full engine replace from what it looks like, which means the AFM lifter will fail eventually again and ill need to spend even more money. There is a class action lawsuit out on alot of v8 2007-2022 engines which can be found at (https://www.classaction.org/media/harrison-et-al-v-general-motors-llc.pdf) that the original class action lawsuit. I've also posted the class action lawsuit pdf, as well as what was said price wise by serpentini. Also posted are messages from the drone from jim butler kia dealership. Notice they try to use my oil changes as a way to deny liability, if u call AUL the place that issues the warranty, they cite modified parts (new headers mufflers etc) because they are new but not from GM so they are considered "modifications" and they were all placed on the car by the previous owner and is exactly the same as it was sold to me by jim butler kia. DONT BUY FROM THEM EVER. Donation accepted. "service side detection system" and "park assist unavailable", are errors due to water intrusion to proximity sensors. In addition sensor modules are physically bulging and there was some corrosion on my passenger side harness connector and visible rust inside both modules' connectors. Errors are starting to affect other electrical system components and other errors are showing up like various electrical glitches like a pausing turn signal among other issues.

THE BLIND SPOT SENSOR STARTED NOT TO WORK SPORADICALLY STARTED NOT TO WORK AT 36,500 MILES. NOW THEY DON'T WORK AT ALL AND AT LEAST I AM NOTIFIED OF THIS TWO TO THREE TIMES EVERY USE OF THE VEHICLE. TALKED AND RESEARCHED THIS WHICH IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH GM CARS AND TRUCKS OF MY CARS VINTAGE. GM KNEW OF THE DESIGN ISSUE BEFORE THEY BUILT THE CAR BUT DIDN'T REPLACE IT.

THIS INDICATES ALL MODEL YEAR 2016 SS SEDANS NEED THE STEERING RACK RECALLED AND REPLACED. MINE IS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL AND A GM REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] ONLY CHECKED THE COMPUTER AND SAID, 'YOUR VIN IS NOT LISTED'. HE COULD NOT SAY THAT I HAD GOLD CONTACTS OR THAT MY STEERING RACK IS SOME HOW 'GOOD' WHEN ALL OTHER MODEL YEAR PRODUCTION IS COVERED BY THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH, AND AS I WAS GOING AROUND A LITTLE BEND THE STEERING WHEEL GOT SUPER HEAVY WHEN I LOST A LITTLE CONTROL AND THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS HAVING AN ISSUE. WAS VERY UNSAFE AND WORRYING TO HAPPEN WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY.

I BECAME AWARE OF THE SUBJECT RECALL, 'LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST,' AND CONTACTED CHEVROLET'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER, WHO TOLD ME THAT MY VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT VINS WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. INSTEAD, THEY ISSUED ME A $100 VOUCHER TOWARD SERVICE. I TOOK THE CAR TO XXXXX CHEVROLET IN FORT WORTH WHO UPDATED SOME SOFTWARE, CHARGED ME $300 AND ADVISED THAT THE CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL AND THAT REPLACING THE STEERING GEAR WILL COST ME $2500 IF THE UNIT FAILS AGAIN. THE POWER STEERING FAILED. CHEVROLET DID NOT FIX IT. THE DEALER SENT ME BACK OUT ON THE ROAD WITH A DEFECTIVE CAR, TELLING ME THAT WHEN IT FAILS AGAIN, SHOULD I SURVIVE AND BE ABLE TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THAT THEY WILL FIX THEIR OWN DEFECT AND CHARGE ME $2500. SOMEHOW, CHEVROLET DOES NOT SEE THE IRONY IN THIS. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN, BEFORE THIS CAR KILLS ME. CHEVROLET MUST INCLUDE MY DEFECTIVE VEHICLE IN THE SUBJECT RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAVE WHITE CHEVROLET (5880 MONROE ST, SYLVANIA, OH 43560, (419) 885-4444) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I OWN A 2016 CHEVROLET SS SEDAN, THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING RACK DUE TO THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT RANDOM TIMES DUE TO THEIR CHOICE TO CUT COSTS IN THE INITIAL ASSEMBLY. MY VIN IS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL, MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN DECEMBER 2015, THE RECALLED PART WAS REMOVED FROM PRODUCTION IN APRIL OF 2016, I HAVE TRIED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE IN HOUSE WITH GM, I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE INSPECTED AT MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AS REQUESTED BY GM'S RECALL DEPARTMENT. I HAVE EXPLAINED MY SITUATION TOO MANY TIMES TO THEM, THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON A DAILY BASIS, NOW THAT I HAVE HAD MY CAR INSPECTED AND THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AGREES WITH ME THAT THE PART IS DEFECTIVE AND MY CAR NEEDS THE RECALL, I HAD TO CONTACT GM AGAIN, THEY WEREN'T GOING TO CALL ME, I HAD TO EXPLAIN THE WHOLE SITUATION TO THE SAME PERSON I'VE BEEN TALKING TO. THEN TOLD ME HE WILL CALL ME IN A WEEK WITH AN UPDATE. GM HAS LEFT OUT MULTIPLE SS SEDANS FROM THIS RECALL, THEY'RE IMPLYING THE REPAIR WILL NOT BE COVERED 100% BY THEM. THE RECALL REPORT I AM REFERRING TO IS 17V-382. ATTACHED IS THE PART NUMBER ON MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY, FURTHERMORE THIS PART IS NOT AVAILABLE ON GM'S WEBSITE ANYMORE, THERE IS A NEW PART NUMBER FOR THIS PART.

POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED BY GM AND PARTIALLY RECALLED UNDER RECALL 17-248 FOR 2014-2016 CHEVROLET SS SEDANS. AS OUTLINED IN NHTSA REPORT # 17V-382 PART# 92280375 IS THE BAD COMPONENT PART#. I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO TAKEN BY THE DEALER WHO COMPLETED THE REPAIRS OF THE BAD PART ON MY VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SAME BAD COMPONENT PART # THAT WAS ALSO RECALLED ON ALL CAPRICE POLICE PURSUIT VEHICLES WITH MANUFACTURER RECALL # 22010 AND OUTLINED IN NHTSA REPORT 16V-160. GM HAS FAILED TO ADEQUATELY ADDRESS THE ISSUE BY KNOWINGLY STILL HAVING VEHICLES WITH BAD COMPONENTS ON THE ROAD ENDANGERING THE SAFETY OF THE SS OWNERS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AS WELL AS OTHER MOTORIST. A SEARCH OF THE AUTO ENTHUSIATS WEBSITE SHOWS SEVERAL MENTIONS OF SS SEDANS IN THE 2014-2016 MODEL YEAR RANGE EQUIPPED WITH THE BAD PARTS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL SO THIS POTENTIAL FAILURE IS NOT LIMITED IN SCOPE. I HAVE INFORMED GM OF THIS ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION. THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP FROM AN EARLIER REPORT.

MY VEHICLE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE BECAME SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND I WAS FORTUNATELY TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND AT A SLOW SPEED. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IN A CORNER THE SUDDENNESS OF THE EVENT COULD HAVE QUITE POSSIBLY BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE VEHICLE HAS 49K MILES AND I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE NEW FOR APPROXIMATELY 25 MONTHS. THIS SAME VEHICLE WAS HELD BY CHEVROLET FOR ABOUT 90 DAYS FOR A QC HOLD FOR REASONS THAT WERE UNDISCLOSED PRIOR TO TAKING DELIVERY SO I HAVE NO IDEA IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DAMAGED IN SHIPMENT SOMEHOW. THIS SUDDEN FAILURE SEEMS TO BE THE SAME FAILURE AND REQUIRES THE REPLACEMENT OF THE EXACT SAME PARTS THAT CHEVROLET HAS ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL FOR CONCERNING 2014-2016 VEHICLES OF THE SAME MODEL. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS INEXPLICABLY NOT COVERED BY THE CURRENT RECALL. RECALL #17248. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF RECURRENT FAILURES WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND HAS FAILED TO TAKE FULL ACCOUNT OF THE PROBLEM WITH THEIR LIMITED RECALL THAT SHOWS NO RHYME OR REASON WHY SOME CARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND OTHERS HAVE NOT..

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V518000 (SEAT BELTS); HOWEVER, THE CABLE WIRES WERE VISIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT TENSIONER CABLE WAS COMING APART AND STEEL PIECES WERE FALLING ALL OVER THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND FLOOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

WITH THIS SYSTEM, THE USER IS ABLE TO CHANGE TRACKS, CHANGE STATIONS, VIEW WHAT'S PLAYING, AND PLAY/PAUSE, ALL WHILE THE USER'S PHONE IS STOWED AWAY FOR DRIVING. PANDORA IS MY PRIMARY SOURCE OF MUSIC THESE DAYS, AS THE CAR DOES NOT COME WITH A CD PLAYER, AND I CHOOSE NOT TO PAY FOR XM SATELLITE RADIO, AND RARELY FIND ANYTHING TO MY LIKING ON AN FM OR AM STATION. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR, THE APP FUNCTIONED AS IT SHOULD. UNTIL SOMETIME TOWARDS THE END OF FEBRUARY OR THE MIDDLE OF MARCH. I WAS IN FOR BODY/PAINT SERVICE ON 5/9/16 (ED RINKE CHEVY) WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT I HAD TWO OPEN RECALLS. I OFFERED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE BUT THEY SAID THEY HAD NO PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS AT THAT TIME. SO ON 11/7/16 THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY HAD THE PART (FOR THE SEATBELT) SO I TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAITED FOR THE REPAIRS. AFTER I GOT CAR BACK THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TOO ORDER THE SEATBELT PART BUT FIXED THE OTHER RECALL, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT PART TOO FIX THE SEATBELT. OK RETURN 12/1/16 "AGAIN" FROM THEIR (RINKE) CALL, THEY SAID THEY GOT THE PART NO PROBLEM 20 MINUTES TOO REPAIR, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN "AGAIN", GET THE CAR BACK AND THE PERSON SAID SOMEHOW THEY ORDERED/GOT THE WRONG PART! SO HERE WE ARE TODAY 3/8/2017, NO CALL FROM DEALER, STILL WITH SEATBELT RECALL UNSERVICED. APPARENTLY ALL THEY REPLACED EACH TIME, IS THE SEATBELT COVER. MY DEAL HAD TO LOCATE A VEHICLE IN THE COLOR ASKED FOR WHICH THEY DID ON 7-7-16, THE SAME DAY GM ISSUED A RECALL AND STOP SALE FOR ISSUES WITH THE SEAT BELT. IT'S BEEN A MONTH WITH NO WORK ON A FIX, NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX, OR ANY IDEA AS TO WHEN I CAN TAKE HOME MY BRAND NEW CAR.

IT'S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH SINCE THE SEATBELT RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED BUT NEITHER GENERAL MOTORS, NOR CHEVROLET HAS GIVEN ANY INDICATION OF A TIMELINE FOR THE FIX, OR WHAT THE FIX WILL BE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STATIONARY, PARKED ON THE BACK LOT OF THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP NEAR MY HOUSE. CHEVY ISSUED A STOP SALE PREVENTING DELIVERY, WHILE ALLOWING THOSE THAT TOOK DELIVERY PRIOR TO 7/7/16 TO CONTINUE DRIVING A CAR THE COMPANY HAS DEEMED NOT SAFE ENOUGH TO SELL. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NUMEROUS 2014, 2015, AND 2016'S ON THE ROAD, BUT SOMEHOW MINE, WITH ONLY 17 MILES ON IT, MAY EXPERIENCE A SEATBELT FAILURE FROM FATIGUE AND IS THEREFORE MORE UNSAFE THAN A 2014 WITH THOUSANDS OF MILES ON IT. DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO DETERMINE WHEN THE FIX WILL BE AVAILABLE, I AM LEFT TO HAVE FAITH THAT A FIX IS COMING. I HAVE PAID MY MONEY FOR THE CAR, BUT I CANNOT DRIVE IT. I'M ONLY ALLOWED SUPERVISED VISITS.
