Missing frunk emergency release. This compartment is definitely large enough for a child to fit and be trapped in. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 401 mandates an interior release mechanism for enclosed trunks to prevent entrapment.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding unexpected and inappropriate automatic braking behavior at low speeds involving the parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, and/or automatic emergency braking system. While performing normal, low-speed maneuvers such as backing out of street parking s
... paces or parking in tight urban environments, the vehicle abruptly applies the brakes even when no imminent collision exists and when obstacles or traffic are clearly visible to the driver. In one frequent scenario, while exiting a parallel out of a parking spot into traffic, the vehicle suddenly stops itself while partially in the roadway due to a car approaching in the rear. This occurs despite sufficient clearance and approaching vehicles slowing to yield or even happens AFTER the approaching vehicle has passed already! This creates a dangerous situation where my vehicle is immobilized in active traffic, increasing the risk of rear-end or side collisions. The driver behind me sees me stopped in middle thinks that I'm waiting for him, when really my intention was to come out of the spot and then finally it releases the emergency brake and then my vehicle juts out into the roadway. Also, during parking maneuvers, the vehicle applies emergency braking despite having enough space, SLOW speed, & the driver having full visual awareness via the backup camera. This removes the driver’s ability to make precise low-speed adjustments. The override behavior is also unsafe. Regaining control requires a firm brake press, after which releasing the pedal causes the vehicle to move abruptly, eliminating precise control and increasing collision risk. This behavior is unpredictable, inappropriate for dense urban driving, & creates hazardous situations rather than preventing them. I believe this constitutes a safety defect in the vehicle’s braking and driver-assist systems. Concerned this could lead to serious accidents, particularly in urban environments. Friends have same problems!Read more

I bought the car in July 2022 with 62,000 miles for my daughter. The car now has 65,000 miles on it as she only drives back and forth to school. Check engine light came on a month ago then 2 weeks later it overheated with coolant light coming on. It took over a month to get in to the dealership t
... o look at the car. Today they looked at it and told me the coolant had an leaked into the engine due to an engine defect so I would need a new long block engine that will cost about 8,000 to repair. Of course it’s not under warranty and even thigh Ford knows it’s an engine defect and fixed the issue in the replacement they will not cover the charges. They recalled the 1.6 engine but not the 2.0 so now I have to pay for a new engine for a car I just bought for 23,000 a year ago. I was also told even if they do a recall I may not be reimbursed for the cost of the new engine. I am absolutely appalled that a car with 65,000 miles requires a new engine, this is Ford design issue and they are not taking any responsibility. I see there is a class action lawsuit against them for this issue. We are a Ford family owning 3 of them but after this experience I am trading them all in and will never buy a Ford again. All they have to do is the right thing but instead they won’t do it. There is a service bulletin for this exact issue. The dealership is very kind but nothing they can do to help.Read more

Not sure if this is a safety problem or is just a freak, isolated incident. In either case, I am reporting this since it might impact vehicles other than just my own. I own a 2015 Buick Verano. On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, upon parking my car, I noticed that my driver’s door wasn’t closing corr
... ectly. There was a small gap preventing it from closing flush. Upon inspection, it became apparent what was causing the problem: The door lock striker plate had pulled away from the doorframe post to which it was anchored. It was secured by two Phillips head screws. My attempt to tighten same was for naught, the screws kept spinning. Fortunately, the door lock striker plate was still operable since it hadn’t pulled away from the post for more than a fraction of an inch, so my door latch was able to catch on to it, but that fraction of an inch was enough to cause the gap when I closed the door. I took the car the next day to a Buick dealer and they referred me to a nearby body shop. The owner looked at the problem and concurred with my initial assessment. He said that in all his years in the field he had never encountered a problem like that. Fortunately, he was able to get the latch striker to lay flush against the column, but he did say it could happen again. So, coming full circle, as I said up front, I don’t know if this is a systemic problem affecting other Buick vehicles from that year, or if it was just an isolate incident. But I guess recall issues have to start somewhere. Rather be safe than sorry, hence my putting this in you court.Read more

I OWN A 2015 BUICK VERANO CONVENIENCE WITH ONLY 28,000 MILES. ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED THE RIGHT SIDE DETECTION INDICATOR ON THE MIRROR ACTING SPORADIC. COMING ON WHEN THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN MY BLIND SPOT, AND NOT COMING ON AS IT SHOULD. AFTER NOTICING THAT, THE SERVICE SIDE DETECTION MESSAGE DI
... SPLAYED ON THE CENTER COUNSEL. I CONTACTED THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR MODULES IN THE BUMPER THAT COLLECT WATER, SNOW, SALT AND CAUSES CORROSION. A VERY POOR DESIGN FOR A SAFETY FEATURE! APPROXIMATELY $1,000 TO FIX! I DID PURCHASE AN AFTER MARKET WARRANTY WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT I BELIEVE IT WILL NOT COVER THIS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CLAUSE ABOUT CORROSION. I DECIDED TO JUST TURN OFF THE FEATURE FROM THE SETTING PANEL AND JUST CALL IT A DAY, SEEING I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 50 YEARS AND NEVER HAD TO RELY ON A SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM TO VIEW MY BLIND SPOT. NOW I GET TWO MESSAGES WHEN I START THE CAR'SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM IS OFF, AND SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM. WELL ANYWAY, YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE RIGHT-SIDE MIRROR CAME ON, BUT THE SYSTEM WAS OFF. THE LIGHT STILL STAYED ON EVEN WITH THE CAR SHUT OFF. AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING AND TURNING ON AND OFF THE SYSTEM FROM THE SETTINGS, THE LIGHT FINALLY WENT OFF. WHY WOULD THAT LIGHT COME ON WHEN I MANUALLY TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM? DO I NEED TO PULL THE FUSE FOR THE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM? I AM JUST AFRAID THAT THIS IS GOING TO CREATE OTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND BECOME A SAFETY PROBLEM. THERE WAS A SPECIAL PROGRAM GM INITIATED IN APRIL OF 2019 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, BUT ONLY FOR THE CHEVY CRUZE. THE BUICK VERANO AND CHEVY CRUZE ARE BASICALLY THE SAME CAR. IS THERE ANYWAY THE BUICK VERANO CAN BE ADDED TO THIS GM PROGRAM? BULLETIN #N172097060 THANK YOU!Read more

VEHICLE'S PAINT IS DAMAGED. UNDER NORMAL SUN EXPOSURE, THIS VEHICLE HAS EXTREME HAIRLINE SCRATCHES THROUGHOUT. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WANT TO BLAME THIS ON ANIMALS. I DO NOT OWN ANIMALS THAT CLIMB ON MY CAR. ON HOOD, ROOF, AND TRUNK.THE REST OF THE CAR IS PERFECTLY FINE, WHICH IS
... STRANGE. I HAVE ENCOUNTERED MORE THAN 10 CARS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS NO REASON THAT A 4 YEAR OLD CAR, WITHIN NORMAL SUN CONDITIONS, SHOULD HAVE ITS PAINT DETERIORATE AT THIS RATE. IT IS EMBARRASSING AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPAINT. I STILL HAVE THE NOTE ON THE CAR.Read more
