Probable Cause
The cause will be determined by the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee.
Full Narrative
On February 12, 2008, a Bell 206L1, registration P2-IHI, serial number 45723, collided with terrain in southern Indonesia. Islands Nationair was operating the helicopter under the provisions of the Indonesian civilian aviation regulations. Both pilots sustained serious injuries.
Investigators reported that the aircraft was crumpled and sitting over on its side. Witnesses reported that the helicopter just plummeted to the ground at a very low level. They believed that the approach was irregular compared to previous or normal approaches. The pilot reported that after noticing indicators decaying or going down, he tried to increase power, but to no avail.
