Full Narrative
On July 2, 2018, Far Eastern Air Transport, flight FE8026, an MD82 aircraft, registration number B-28035, took off from Penghu Airport for Songsang Airport. The aircraft declared PAN PAN at 7 miles from the runway of Songshan Airport at an altitude of 2,800 feet due to the No. 1 engine failure. The aircraft then safely landed at Songsang Airport and all on board personnel were safe. Damage to the internal parts of the No. 1 engine and piercing the engine cowling caused the engine failure.
The engine failure is being investigated by the Aviation Safety Council of Taiwan and the NTSB is participating as the State of Manufacturer of the airplane and engine.
