Full Narrative
The flight instructor reported that, during an instruction flight, the radio and intercom failed. The instructor returned to the airport and received a green light from the tower air traffic controller to land. During touchdown, the airplane "ballooned," touched down again, and then veered to the right and ground looped.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing.
The instructor reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
The pilot did not submit the NTSB Form 6120.1 Pilot/Operator Aircraft Accident/Incident Report.
