On October 14, 2016, a Cessna C500 (Citation) departed Kelowna Airport (CYLW) at 0510 Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) for a flight to Calgary/Springbank Airport (CYBW), with a pilot and three passengers aboard. Shortly after departure, the aircraft disappeared off the radar and impacted terrain about 11 miles north of Kelowna Airport. All 4 occupants on board sustained fatal injuries.
