Full Narrative

On December 11, 2015, an Avianca Airbus A318-111, N593EL, equipped with CFMI CFM56-5 engines, experienced a loss of power from the No. 1 (left) engine. The airplane was operating as Avianca flight AV9398 from Bogota, Colombia to Pasto, Colombia when the engine lost power during the climb. The crew shutdown the engine and returned to Bogota for landing without incident.
