Event Location
Probable Cause
The pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind and failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.
Full Narrative
The pilot was landing with a left crosswind. The pilot stated the touchdown on runway 16 was normal, but during the rollout the airplane began to drift to the left. The pilot stated he applied right brake and rudder in an attempt to correct the situation, but the airplane departed the runway surface, struck a snow bank and nosed over. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the wing spar and empennage. No mechanical anomalies were reported.
The pilot reported that the winds at the time of the accident where from 130 degrees at 10 knots.
