Incident Narrative
An employee was working to clear a build-up of clogged plastic material from the bottom of the crystallizer line. After removing the screen, he proceeded to reach his arm up underneath the crystallizer to feel for any remaining jammed material. As he was doing this, the valve of the crystallizer closed suddenly, crushing the tip of his left middle finger. The employee sustained a fingertip amputation without bone loss.
