Incident Narrative

An employee was walking back to the work area after retrieving an impact gun to repair two pipes on a crack-sealing machine. The crew was putting the hose back into the machine when the pump activated. Tar (asphalt) came out of the blown gasket and struck the employee when he was approximately 6-7 feet away. The employee sustained burns to his hands and stomach.
