Incident Narrative

An employee was using a skid steer to remove slag and ash from an incinerator afterburner. When the employee scooped up a bucket full of ash, steam and hot ash dust entered the lower part of the skid steer and came in contact with the employee's wrist and lower leg. The employee suffered first-degree burns to both wrists and first- and second-degree burns to both legs between the knee and the ankle, including a second-degree burn to an area around the left ankle.
