Incident Narrative

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 1:50 PM, a pile driving crew was setting pile using a vibratory hammer. The hammer and the pile were approximately 105 feet tall. An employee was positioned approximately 30 feet away on the falsework, spotting the pile during the vibration process. A piece of the steel pile broke off near the top and struck the employee on the left side of his head and his left shoulder, resulting in a laceration to the side of his head. The employee was hospitalized and required stitches.
