Incident Narrative
An employee was on a canopy on top of a school walkway and working to remove wood and install metal. He had been cutting wood boards while standing on the awning that was approximately 9 feet high. The wood planks attached to the north side of the walkway broke loose while the employee was standing on them and he fell to the ground with the boards falling on top of him. The employee hit his head and sustained a concussion, lacerations, and fractures to their L3-L4 vertebrae and ribs, as well as a dislocated shoulder.
