An employee was adjusting the coupler on the railcar and used their left hand to pull up on the cut lever and their right hand to open the knuckle. The employee's right index and middle fingers were caught between the knuckle and coupler. The employee suffered two broken fingers and tissue damage requiring hospitalization and surgery.
