Incident Narrative

An employee was working from a scissor lift during demolition of an internal wall on the second floor. He removed part of the drywall and intended to pull out a metal stud. A metallic electric conduit ran vertically in proximity of the stud. The conduit was not continuous, and a conduit section in the top part had been removed. A live unprotected cable lost insulation from contact with the stud, causing an electric discharge. The employee was electrocuted and hospitalized.
