Incident Narrative
An employee was torching/welding (washing) a spudwell into the base of a barge that was in for repair. While torching (washing) the spudwell, a slag ember dropped inside the employee's protective leather leg sheathing. The employee suffered severe burns from the slag resulting in amputation of the right leg below the knee and multiple surgeries.
