An employee was operating a metal shearing machine to cut 2-inch pieces of stainless steel. A piece of stainless steel became jammed in the machine. After removing the jammed piece, the employee noticed his marker had rolled into the machine. While trying to extract his marker, the shear engaged and amputated his left middle fingertip.
