An employee was using an overhead crane to lift a bottom scraper (weighing over 1,200 pounds) off a machine table for fabrication purposes. While being lifted, the scraper rotated 90 degrees (from vertical to horizontal) and the employee's left hand was caught between the scraper and the nylon lifting straps. The left middle finger was partially amputated.
