Incident Narrative

An employee was waiting inside his truck after spraying liquid asphalt and was building up pressure in the vehicle to spray the next section of roadway. There was a blockage in the spray bar and the seal at the bottom of the truck blew, spraying 300-degree Fahrenheit liquid asphalt onto the employee. The employee was hospitalized with burns to the chin, forearm, left hand, and abdomen.
