Incident Narrative

An employee was on a truck equipped with an aerial lift assisting with the lowering of cable reels onto the truck bed using mechanical equipment. As a reel was being lowered, the employee placed one foot on the bucket access platform of the truck and the other foot on the steps leading to the platform for leverage. The employee bent down to shift the reel and as they stood up and placed their right foot on the platform, they fell from the truck onto the ground. They sustained fractures to the L1 and L2 vertebrae as well as to the pelvis.
