Incident Narrative

On October 11, 2022, at 10:48 PM, an employee was operating a runout table when a breakout occurred on one of the strands. The employee plugged and stopped the strand and began cutting the billet. When the billet was cut loose, it fell into the water. The billet contained liquid steel, causing a splash toward the employee after falling into the water. The employee was hospitalized for second-degree burns.
